Thread: Western is fantastic but the sound levels aren't balance

A mixer of some sort would be sweeeeet.

Maybe a post-Master profession called Conductor? I do believe NewJedi (or someone, so sorry if I'm totally mistaken on this) suggested the Conductor profession.

Some active way of "mixing down" the music we play would be pretty cool - and it could make the same song everyone plays actually sound pretty unique. They could even do some sampling and looping. I've done some experiments with my alt pure Entertainer using ALT+TAB, with both clients' Player Music slider turned up. You could really do some cool stuff with loops, if there were a means to do it. Maybe even a DJ profession versus a Conductor profession would be pretty cool.

And I completely agree about Western - song is okay (I have some issues with the flourishes' composition and transitional notes - I find it very repetitive) but there are instruments that are way way way too quiet, and others that are way too loud. I very much hope that something is done to correct that, but I'm not very optimistic, given how many fixes the Devs have done for us lately.

I agree, the bandfill tends to drown out the horns in particular. For me, it seems to depend on where my in-game camera is positioned: things sound better from certain vantage points than from others.

And yes, I LOVE the idea of a conductor or mixer.

I will take up both of these points with the devs. Probably in a few days, once JTL hits and the devs start sleeping again.

Yeah, JustG's diary entries remind me of big project implementations - sleep is optional. And in fact, actively discouraged, haha. Maybe once they get some sleep they won't be so grumpy and we might get someone to talk to us

It'd be fun to a DJ of some sort...scratchin' records and junk.

I already have my DJ booth

But, it's gathering dust until I work my way back up to Ommni box

Your DJ booth is great! If anyone hasn't seen it, drop by Warryyr's cantina sometime. I was impressed.

I have only played it with my droid, who I have set to play the bandfil and I experimented with the other instruments. I really didn't notice much of an issue with the volume unless I rotated my view where I was behind the droid, etc. I have not had the pleasure of playing with other masters yet, and it will likely be a long time before I can, if ever, since Lowca is not exactly a hotbed of entertainment. ( No offence tofellow Lowcans ) So, I am not a great judge of the volume issue at this point.

I do really, really like the song and I hope it will just be the first of many

I finally got the new song. and it's great. the more players the better it sounds. the only recomendation I have to make is that the instrumentation sound levels be better balanced, i.e. the Bandfill and Omnibox over drive the other instruments. How about either adding a mixer function for the band leader. or just lowering the level of the bass instruments. Personally I would like to see a mixer for the band leader.

NJ plz stop saying .. "i will take up both of the points with the devs" in cases of a new idea .. you had not been man enough to say anything to the devs about removing the 400k XPs for the song .. so plz do not ever say things like above again !

That is not only wrong but uncalled for. He presented the opinions of all of us. Some were for it and others were not. However raising the issue does not guarantee they will listen or act.

And just what makes you say something like this? NJ is not god, nor is he in a position to demandof the Devs what they should and shouldn't do. This statement was simply wrong and I hope you come and apologize to NJ for it.

P.S. 1 star for you.

For the record, I repeatedly told the devs that most Musicians hate the 400K XP requirement. For what it's worth, this was not exactly a news flash to them, hehe. They fully expected that reaction. They see quest+XP requirement as a model for future content.

I have always had a policy of reporting what the majority here wants, even if occasionally I see it differently. And in most cases I see it the way the majority does anyway. The current top-20 list is based on Musician voting, but it's a pretty fair summary of my own personal views too.

To yank this back on track *HEAVE*

I have found that it's possible to give more weight to certain tracks by doubling up on some instruments. I know this is harder to do in the case of Western, but if you want more Bass, havean extradroid playing bass. Its tricksome and annoying, but it is one way to get the mixed volume effect people are talking about here.
