Thought I would ask for myself. I'm not gonna get to worked up about it, and I would hope none of you do either. Macro's will die....eventually.

NewJedi, for a year and a half of service, you certainly have fortitude. I admire that and I might say it is one factor that makes you the perfect correspondent for us. It's unfortunate that your service is met with such a response.
____________

Over 90% of their paying customers are not playing entertainers (rough estimate based on early polls drawn from memory) and I'd guess a fraction of them are playing entertainer for enjoyment. This creates a situation where a small fraction of a developer's time is devoted to entertainer needs and the needs are great. However, it seems like things are done serially--let's work on Jedi revamp, and then JTL, and then Combat Upgrade, etc--so we get hardly any attention.

People need to realize that having every entertainer cancel their account to attempt to affect SOE's pocketbook (a.k.a. speaking with money) is not nearly enough threat to SOE as having every combattant threaten to cancel their account. Cancelling your account over entertainer problems is just not going to have any kind of significant impact. What we need is more people to be interested in playing entertainer griping about it's problems, but the only way to do that is to make entertainer more insteresting...which requires developer resources, which are tied up with non-entertainer things (catch-22, anyone?).

I made a recommendation during beta, given the state of entertainers at that time, to make entertaining as an ANCILLARY skill and not a primary profession. It was obvious then that 1. there wasn't enough sustainable content for a complete profession and 2. there wasn't going to be the developer support for a complete profession. Naturally, among the other issues occurring in beta at the time, the recommendation was probably stifled and never made it to internal developer discussion.

So here is my message to the dev. team. You had your chance to change this. You saw the numbers of players playing entertainer. You knew you weren't going to be able to spend resources on the profession. You enticed people to try the new playstyle you had invented. You kept luring them with fake bait, saying you'd fix this or that after such and such. You chose (directly or indirectly) to keep "entertainer" as one of six CORE professions. Now we're asking you to own up to that and get us some developer attention to a CORE profession that you've largely avoided since launch.

SOMEONE in SOE has to step up and make the difficult decision to put a few man hours into this profession.

Sigh, seems like I've been talking about this ever since beta. Oh wait! I have!

MyT_Chicken: "Will Macro's be addressed in the CU?"

TH: "Nope. What we are going to do there is unknown at this time."

More evidence that the developers are liars. First they say after JTL, now it's "Gee, duhuh, I dunno".

They suck. They are liars and cowards. Do they think we'll just keep paying them to slap us in the face every few months? How stupid do they think we are?

Bollocks to this game. This was the final straw. I'm cancelling. I willstart paying my $15only AFTER the developers figure it's worth their while to keep their word and stop unattended gameplay. I won't hold my breath.

Combat is no longer compulsory.

Yup. Finally someone steps up to the plate. All I can say is that it's about time.
