Thread: Ommni Box flourishes bugged after the patch?

Hi all,

a fellow guildie and also Master Musician noticed yesterday that most flourish animationson the Ommni Box seem to be borked now. Either they don't show up at all (apart from short twitches by the musician) or seem to have part of them missing. And this can be seen by onlookers as well, someone watched me when I tried it and confirmed it.Eerily similar to the dancer's broken flourishes. Haldimar (the guy who noticed it first) speculated that it may have to do with the sliding chair fix (which doesn't seem to work 100% either).


Has anyone else witnessed this yet?


Since we got our registration bug fixed recently, do we have a new annoying low-priority issue now that won't get resolved for months and years? (sorry, couldn't resist that one )

Hmm, this is certainly something I'll test when I get home. Doesn't sound good .
Just to throw out something stupid, supposedly characters don't animate when you have your game sound off.. that's not something you changed recently, by any chance (though the symptoms sound different)?

I told you the Ommni Box was evil! No one listens to Lilo....


I logged in to check this out, and it looks like /flos 3-8 do an animation, though 3's is pretty weak. I don't know if these are changed animations from before--as you all know, I don't like playing Ommni. Anyway, the same flos are missing on all the songs. The music plays normally, but the animations just aren't there.

Well I don't recall all the old annimations. I always was more concerned on how they sounded. I checked em out and it looks like Flo 1 and 2 are there but they are REAL subtle. They are both just slight movements to the right hand and arm and maybe a little different head bob. They are there though. Flo 3 is a little more than 1 and 2, but they are real subtle. Oh ya and if sound is off there is no annimation.

I did my own testing tonight and found the same. I do remember the flos being subtle for the first few, so that was as expected. But for every flo, both myself and those around me saw the animations as they should be. So everything seems a-ok on my end.

Well, I have the same problem here as most of you: I don't like the Ommni Box and never really played it much, therefore I don't recall exactly how the animation to a given flo is supposed to look.

But I know some animation is supposed to happen for every flo, andwhen I tried it (will check it out again today), some flos just weren't there, apart from a very short twitch by my character. Maybe that's a lag issue, and my guildies suggestion that it may be connected to whatever they changed with the sliding bug seems reasonably too (although it's of course pure conjecture).

Update: seems to work again today, although flourishes 1 and 2 are real subtle (and I can't recall having seen them in that form before. Did they get changed, or is my memory failing?). There is definitely a change to yesterday, where a few people on my server saw graphic glitches on those same flourishes.

Maybe it's a lag issue - today I tried it early in the morning in an almost empty Bestine cantina, while yesterday I did late afternoon about 1500m away from Theed.

I'm 98% sure those flourishes have always been that subtle. The memory lapse is what you get for not liking the ommni box .
If lag can cause these things to show up consistently, that's certainly something worth looking into. My own tests were in an almost empty cantina. Perhaps I'll hop over to Coronet to see what happens when I enter the lag zone.
But hopefully it was just a fluke.

Flourishes 1 & 2 are subtle, true. I don't remember flourish 6 being that unsubtle, though.

Turning sound off does stop the animations, but setting player music volume or master volume to 0 does not have the same effect.
