i did the quest more then once on different server and i used different instruments, once a Nal, mando and traz ... the quest worked with all instruments, so i would say the used instrument does not count.
if the NPC's said play song A and we like flo B .. play that song and flo alot during the audition time, but you have to use the other flo's aswell and you have to change the songs too

I have not seen instrument or clothing make any difference. The 2 major factors are song and flourishes.....BUT more than just what the audience tells you.
Here are the basic steps I follow to get the audience to love you.
- 1) Do NOT play any song that they do not like.
- 2) Play EVERY OTHER song but emphasize the ones that they like.
- 3) Do NOT play any flourish they do not like.
- 4) Play EVERY OTHER flourish but emphasize the ones they like (about every other or every 3rd should be one they like).
- 5) Flourish your butt off. There is a server limit of about 5 every 8 seconds.....get close to it but do not macro it as a) its hard to write a macro to incorporate the likes and dislikes in the time allowed and b) it may "sense" the regular nature of a macro....be random.
Using this I have completed the series of quests 6 times (working on 7) and to date I have failed 1 performance (of 19).

I play the song they like (if it's 2 i was switching between them) and only done the flo they like but no macro and the best for that is to put all your flo in the hotbar and use that. Make sure to have some food with you so you don't run out of action as well. Otherwise don't stop flo and you'll make it.
This worked for me. I just kept changing between the two songs every so often and keep spamming the flo's they like and I got past the next two performances without failing once.
