Dear fellow Musicians,
I have decided to step down as Correspondent. It's been a distinct honor to serve you all. I still love the job, so I take this step reluctantly. But I've been Correspondent since launch, and It's past time that I step down and let someone else have a go at it. I had planned to do so before the holidays, but for one reason or another the time wasn't right, and since then I've been out of town and then had the flu from hell. 
As for a successor, I've already suggested a couple names to the devs, and I probably will suggest a couple more, depending on who expresses interest. But it's not my decision, so if you are interested, be sure to PM Tiggs, TH, and JustG. They don't read their PMs as often as we players do, so get going early.
My successor has a lot of items on the agenda. (1) Obviously you need to push the devs about our top issues, especially AFKing, content, and new songs and instruments -- the issues cited over and over again in this forum. The trick is to push them without annoying them so much that they start ignoring you. (2) Another is to look out for our interests in the Combat Upgrade process. You'll find that some of the most dangerous ideas come not from devs but from other players and Correspondents. 
I personally think the CU is not going to result in earthshaking changes for us Musicians, but it's like a constitutional convention -- you never know what might come out of it. (3) You'll also find yourself spending some time managing logistics relating to the CU -- Musicians lose access temporarily, who they gonna call? (4) Another is to conduct a new top-twenty issues poll, with a view to generating a top-five and top-twenty for TH. It's about time for a new poll. (5) This forum needs a revamp. Several players have suggested consolidating several stickie'd threads into one post with links. I'm all for it; I just never got around to it, in part because I have such a horrid time with clickies and Lithium. (6) You of course have to monitor this forum, the CU forums, the Correspondent forum, and ideally the Dancer and Entertainer forums. I also pop in the ID forum, the DE forum, the Tailor forum, etc. -- anyone who does business with us is fair game. (7) You of course need to keep playing your Musician to see first-hand how things are doing. (8) There are a few Knowledge Base entries that need updating. I'll put the new Correspondent in touch with the right people about this. (9) Finally, whoever is selected should set aside a little time to PM or IM me about what's going on behind the scenes. I want to make sure the new Correspondent knows the state of play, andsome info is confidential.

Once again, it has been a privilege to work with all of you. I've often told my Correspondents that I'm blessed with one of the most civil and intelligent discussion boards in the game. That's the most important thing I'm bringing with me as I exit stage left: the satisfaction of having served a thoughtful and fun group of people.

We all know that you love the position too much to just step down for someone else to take over.
You're just stepping down because blue glowy island looks too tempting, what with the drinks, and the lovely ladies

On a more serious note, thank you very much for the extremely large amount of time you've put in to this position. You've had to hold it through some rough times, and you've always stayed enthusiastic in your desire to help the profession.
I don't envy your successor, to have so much on their plate and to have to succeed you, whose name has "always" been the one atop this forum (but then again, I'll be applying, so I guess I'm willing to be someone whom I don't envy haha).

You know... I was beginning to think that you'd be correspondent until they shut the servers down So rather surprised that you are stepping down. I don't envy the person who has to do the job you have done superbly the past year+.
Hopefully though this will mean you have more time to dedicate to the fun things (and I think they have a point about you feeling left out of the blue glowie crowd ).
