This is a rally cry to the musicians out there.
With the new bug on Dancer buffs, it's crucial to have a Musician around to be able to do group Dancer buffs. In addition, the same bug has messed up buffbots all over, so there is presumably a lot of demand for these buffs.
Since we're outnumbered by Dancers by quite a bit, it'd be great (and probably somewhat monetarily advantageous) if we could make ourselves available for buffing teams as often as possible. Let's be all we can be and other such motivational slogans!

Does the musician have to have the ability to buff, or can they still be in the entertainment line, just playing?

Good question. My random guess would be no they wouldn't need to be able to buff, but don't hold me to that until someone can confirm it.

That's one of the things I want to test. I don't have novice musician where I'll be dancer buffing tonight (Scip should be dual logged as a musician, so no need for anyone to chastise me for calling for musicians and then not running out as a musician myself

We tried this last night. Grouped dancer did not work unless you were getting a buff from both a musician and dancer. Even if there was a musician in the group. The only thing we did not test were:
1) if you could just be listening to say, a novice entertainer, while getting a dance buff.
2) If you already had a music buff, but then listened to a musician again while you got a seperate dance buff, would it work?
But, for certain, you have to be listening to the entertainer, and most likely they need to be able to buff you. Also, if you get a musician buff seperately first, you still can't get a grouped dancer buff seperately.

Yes... that "bug" that's screwed all the bots out there. Yes... tragic that...
I will help the dancers so long as they promise to keep dressing all skimpy around me.

I think that to get the dancer buff you just need to be in the act of "listening" and itdoesn't matter to whom.
I want to test some things still, however it seems as though the act of "listening" to the band you are in if you have played an instrument for even 1 second is enough to be considered that you are "listening"...even though the target is yourself. I'm not saying you get a music buff for it, but if you then "watch" and "stopwatch" it takes.
I want to try...
1) Watching a dancer first then listening to see if that will still work with /stopwatch first.
2) Listening to non buff level musician.
3) Listening to a musician not in the group.
I'll see what I get or if others have done these tests, please let me know.

Well, I PMed my results to Deila and Tiaga, but yes, I can confirm that listening to someone playing music in the group is all that's necessary.
Options 1 and 2 worked, option 3 did not.

Of note....I also was able to get a dance buff even though I was playing music the entire time. I was able to get a full duration buff with just these steps.
- Started playing music
- Started watching dancer in group
- Stopped watching dancer in group
I had a dancer try that on music, but music worked as it used to, that you only get buff time credit for listening while not dancing. Watching while playing music seems to work though.

Just incase everyone hasn't looked at the dancer forum. Not only is a musician needed in the buff group you must /stopwatch BEFORE /stoplisten if two ents are simultaneously buffing in the group. This is key because it means the two buffs are dependent on the customer following instructions even more accurately than in the past.
So if you aren't already teamed with a dancer like me and Imaji I recommend you go find a dancer friend and get out there. Do it right and do it often, good rules for many things in life
