Hi, if a master musician uses a lower instrument will he heal wounds slower? i like the sound of lower instruments better but i am afraid it will make me heal slower.

It depends on what you play. If you play Virtuoso with anything, then no. It is the instrument or the music that makes a difference, whichever is higher.

If you are playing music lower than your instrument, it can make a difference, but not one I would be too concerned about. Anything musician or better should be a decent rate, and since you have instruments in musician that sound like those in entertaienr, it shouldn't be a problem.

is it confirmed?

xps works like that but seemed to me that buffs or healing rate depend only on music healing/buffing skill

Buffs seem to depend only on buff skill, as you say. That's not what the devs intended. The FAQ the helped me write stated clearly that song and instrument choice were both supposed to be relevant to the buff. But in practice, it seems they aren't.

I'm not sure about heals, though. I seem to heal pretty fast regardless of what I play, but I don't get XP spam (since I'm at the XP cap), so I can't even tell when I'm healing anyone.

Technically speaking it does make a different for buffs, it's just not a difference you will ever see. Ever. I mean that. I had to do very carefully controlled tests to see it at all. Those tests were very unrealistic of real world situations.

For healing, I have not done any tests to see exactly how it relates, but in my experience it does make a difference. You'll heal faster than you did at that level, due to higher healing skill, but try healing someone with a slitherhorn on sw1 sometime. Do it solo, and compare it to healing them with virtuoso or playing a nalargon. You can tell the difference immediately, as the healing xp will become much smaller. (Assuming you aren't capped, that is.) Healing xp directly relates to how much you heal.

I have done minimal tests with healing, and can tell you a solo novice ent can, in some situations, heal so slowly that the xp granted is only fractional, and is rounded down to 0.

I would really like to see this fixed. At least then I could choose to deny service if I know people are getting healed by me specifically and not tipping me.

Tiaga: What you say is consistent with what the devs have always told me. For that reason the buff and general Musician FAQ both now say that in theory instrument choice matters for buffing, but in practice most Musicians don't notice the difference.

Amythen: Amen to that. Not only does our buffing interface need improvement; our *healing* interface does too.

I play Virtuoso on a bandfill for buffs and that seems to do the trick. It gives 2 hour buffs every time.

I usually use my mando to buff/ heal people because I just love the thing and I like the way it sounds. I have used the 4 minute flourishing to produce consistent 2 hour buffs with the mando playing starwars1

From what I have seen,if you can be buffed with either the drinkor doctor buffs and are spamming the flourishes, it does not matter song orinstrument to give a complete buff in the same amout of time. I have been playing around with this and I can give a full buff on starwars1 in the same time. I have nottried doing it with a slitherhorn or any of the lower horns since we have the higherhorns with the same sound. Although I think someone else has tried this and reported that it is the same. I have no idea for healing but I don't think it is really that important. I have never had someone ask me how long it was going to take to heal a specific amount of bf. Just if it will be a while or not. Then you entertain them and time passes quickly I for one like getting to use any instrument because people like to hear variety in songs. Its sad that people will now yell at me to NOT play virtuoso because that is all the bot plays.
