I'm trying to make a factory schematic for the duel wave synthesizers. I've tried using both a public and private crafting station. I started offstanding next tothe Weapon/Droid/General item station, but in desperation have also tried the other ones (Food/Med, Armor/Clothing and Furniture/Structure). While I can indeed make the item, I never get the option to make a schematic. Is this a bug or is there a mysterious musical gizmo crafting station that I am missing?

Generic crafting tools cannot make schematics, that is most likely your issue.

Use a Weapon, Droid, General tool, and stand next to a General Station (Public or Private) and all will be well.

Yes, when I used to Weapon & General Item Crafting Tool to make a schematic for our town DE, it worked just fine.
