Thread: How about new songs that actually sound like they belong in Star Wars?

Not sure if I'm the only one, but the new Western song seems out of place in the game. I don't think it impresses a very Star Wars feel on the audience.

In fact, given the new dance and song, I'm not sure how it applies to our game unless we're hosting a hoedown and a showdown. Makes me think of saloons more than cantinas. Blecch.

Anyhow, it's something new, and anything new after so long is at least something different to listen to.

My question is: What (Star Wars themed!) songs would you like put in the game? What music really makes you feel like you're in Star Wars, or in a cantina?

Personally, I'd be interesting in the following:

Rebel Alliance theme (Rebel Themepark reward for Entertainers)

Imperial March (Imperial Themepark reward for Entertainers)

The real Mos Eisley Cantina song - not that starwars2 quasi-Mos Eisley cantina song, THE one they're playing in the game in Mos Eisley. (Neutral mission)

Sy Snootles band music (minus the singing, obviously)

The Jabba's Palace music when we first see Jabba's throneroom in RoTJ - it's full of horns and flutes and stuff.

Anyways, what do you want for a new song that actually sounds like it belongs in STAR WARS (since the Devs don't seem to get that)?

P.S.

I know we're mostly talking to ourselves with this, but I just want to hear what others want in the game song-wise.

(Edited because I was being crabby before I had my morning juicebox, sorry folks)

You can hear this one ingame, if we're both talking about the same song. Go to any NPC city with a Guild Hall that has a Merchant Trainer (there's one in Coronet right near the Med Center and Shuttle Port). One time I sat down and listened to it for about an hour, just thinking how nice it would be to play that instead of Virtuoso.

PS to your PS- I was pleased to respond and contribute to this until I read this post. If your first one is you at your best, the second one is you at your worst. Calling the Devs names does absolutely nothing. You have no justification for it, and it doesn't serve our cause. Picture the Devs asnormal folkstrying to get a job done, and imagine what your words mean to them. You think they will actually want to do anything for us after being dumped on like that? The consistent noncommunication more than likely has a lot to do with upper management for this game, and calling the working stiffs under them names just alienates the people in the trenches. First post 5 stars, second post 1 star.

The Star Wars universe, now at least, is more then just what we saw in the movies. I think the western song fits in well, and gives us a nice party-tune. It's one of the peppiest songs we have, and just because some Alliance-thing is fighting a war with some Imperial-thing with glowing sticks doesn't mean the rest of the galaxy isn't having a good time. I love the upbeat nature, not to mention in quirky 12/4 time, of Western. It's a happy song, and damn it, I'm a happy player.

Star Wars needs square dances. You can't deny that.

I'll have to to go by and check it out, and see if that's the same music.

I was digging around through some old Dev posts, just remembering all the great things we were once going to get and I found this

Well the Jedi revamp did a lot for AFKtainers. They moved from profession grinding to FS grinding. Good job!

Heh. Indeed.

I was specifcally referring to the fact that in February they had a few songs complete and were working on more. The part about ending the hologrind was just a delightful bonus in that post.

Yes I realized what you were referring to, that statement about the JEDI revamp fixing AFK just made me laugh.

That's funny, I thought the new song in the special edition Return of the Jedi seemed out of place.

Guess we allhave opinions.

I kind of wonder if the Devs wouldn't be happier doing comedy instead of developing an MMORPG--it would have to be a cruel and ironic variety of comedy, but they'd be amazing.

Umm, I won't get into what I thought about the "special edition" RoTJ.

The song I'm referring is the one in Jabba's Palace, in the original (and IMHO the only true RoTJ) version of the movie. I'd post a clip of it, if it wouldn't cause lawyers to beat down my door, lol.

Gotta love it, thanks for the 1-stars. Just can't get enough of those, folks.

I have the full original OST.. There are several songs they could use. Are you refering to the one Sy Snoodles sings in the original version?

I'm pretty sure that one is called Lapti Nek.

I bet it'd be hard to come up with a more closer representation than what the starwars1-3 already do because of the.. basically one measure you have to re-create the diversity of an entire song. I sorta like 'em all, right now, as it is and I'd be pleased with more of the same.

I just wish there were like.. a TON more of the same Would be awesome for people to go into a cantina and hear something new each time, as well as being able to request one of their favorites. But that would be a lot of work, I guess.
