Thread: How's your tipping radar?

Now, I make it a point to never act on assumptions, as you never know who's going to surprise you.
However, I was in a foreign cantina recently, on a stealth mission, and for the most part I wasn't trying to make any money at the time - I had other things going on. At one point though, I needed a small amount of cash, and so I decided to go more active and hunt for tips. I then realized that I probably have a decent tipping radar, in that I can tell which players coming in will tip and which won't, which will give big tips, etc. I only used it specifically at that time to 'target' one player for some interaction, and indeed I got a 10k tip (no buffing involved), but I'll be testing out my radar in play sessions to come.
Anyone else feel that they have a good radar? Does anyone use it to pick who they'll interact with so as to maximize tips? (I don't, and presumably won't, but I thought that it could be done).
Just a thought .

I can smell a wallet overflowing with credits over 5000m away lol.

I know what you mean, though. Sometimes there are most definitely surprises, but in general when a person comes in you can tell if they're a tipper or not. If they talk to you at all, or THEY try to engage in conversation, you're probably good. If they come off cold and distant, not interested in chit chat, then either you'll never get a tip no matter what you try, or you'll make em laugh and loosen up and they'll slide some credits your way.

People who talk in 1337 speak are usually a lost cause. Though sometimes I've been shocked.

Best I can do with my tip radar is to carefully evaluate, examine the chat, make my selections as to who I think is the good tipper, and focus on EVERYONE else. I am always wrong.

Its a good thing that I amassed a small fortune prior to buffbots taking over, and I've been successful with a new char by selling instruments. Its a pain to do, but can be profitable.

Hehe, I remember in the first weeks of the game, we'd say to each other in groupchat: "Weaponsmith tag, time to chat him up!" But my tip radar has gotten steadily worse, I'm afraid.

I was thinking I was developing this 8th sense but lately have been so wrong! The other night a customer came in and i /wave, "hi", "how are you?", "what got you so wounded?" etc. over a period of 10 minutes. The character just stood there motionless and speechless the entire time. Meanwhile, I was chatting with several others who ended up giving me a total of under 2k in tips. Turns out I /waved the Strong Silent One out the door and a 100k banktip turned up!

Go figure.....

i always make it a point to tip at key dancers, usually by checking to see who was at keys as i leave, even if i didnt watch them, but i dont talk to entertainers (sorry), spend my time instead patrolling the auction forums =)

If anyone is going to tip me, chances are they are a Role Player, or someone fairly new to the game.
