Thread: Ideal HAM stats for musicians

Has any work been done to determine ideal HAM stats for musicians? It would be nice know exactly how much action each instrument and each song costs. There must be some formular we can derive - it will depend on the quickness stat of course.

Ithink Ihave found the ideal quickness/stamina values for doing the fast mind buff:

Quickness: 1100

Stamina: 900

With those stats I am able to do the 5 flourishes every 10 seconds without food or doc buffs. I am not master yet but I can do this with all songs and instruments - including Jazz and Omni box. I will soon test if I can do it with Virtuoso and Nalargon.

Btw, you probably have to be human to get those stats. I feel for the poor Twi'leks.

Hmm...I understand the quickness for Action cost. But, my stats are generally the inverse.

I do more Stamina/less Quickness. That way, I regen faster between flourishes. I don't mind the Action cost, so long as in the time it takes to do another round of flourishes, I'm fully healed again.

Eh, a Quickness buff is usually pretty cheap from a Doc, so I just pony up the dough and toss them some credits. Pretty interesting stuff you've got goin' on here, though.

Oh, and as an aside for Musicians who haven't gotten Quickness or Stamina buffs yet, there's a little difference:

Quickness buffs essentially remove the Action cost of your Flourish. In other words, no annoying negative numbers over your head (better for parties, I think - more realistic instead of constant "ticks" off your Action).

Stamina buffs increase how fast your Action will heal itself as you drain it while Flourishing. You'll still see some ticks (negative numbers) against your Action, but it'll heal extremely fast (won't ever go down, really).

Yes, there are probably different combinations of quickness/stamina that would work too. It is about finding a balance between the two that works.

I very much like to be able to give a buff right away without having to think about getting buffed. It's not so much the money (actually I'm master doc too) but the convenience that matters to me.

I hear ya...I'm ALL about convenience. Well, by which I mean I'm really lazy. Ha!

My laziness basically kept me from really tweaking any stats, instead I just plopped down some cash to get the buffs whenever I thought I might need them.

Quick update: I just made it to master musician (YAY!) and these stats are fine for using Nalargon and Virtuoso.

I'm off to buff someone...

I have a Bothan master musician/master dancer and have discovered something that strikes me as odd:

All of her action stats (Action, Quickness & Stamina) are at the max for her race.

This gives her enough to do a full music buff (5 flourishes per pause 8)... no matter what instrument/song she uses.

BUT... it's not enough to do a full dance buff (same number of flourishes in the same amount of time) without buffs or someone healing her.

I guess that music has an advantage over dance in this.

I survived the CU

I can not survive the NGE

Dancing is definitely more costly Action-wise than Music. I guess it sort of makes sense, Dancing is much more physical. But man, it sure does take some stamina to play music for 3 hours or so.
