Yes, it is. It is definitely odd. They don't *quite* give it all away - it's a macro choice, but not exactly the most user-friendly macro out there.
I kind of think less of O'Reilly now (have one of their Linux books). They do provide thorough info, but I would have thought they would avoid publishing things like that. I do find it fascinating that they call it a "hack," when SOE calls it a game feature. I'm disappointed mostly because that info is provided to the detriment of the games it references. Though, I think O'Reilly pretty much agrees with our stance - those looping things are manipulations of a system that was put in with good intent, but used in a way that "cheats" the game. It's a way to beat the system.
The question remains, though - why play a game that you don't....play?

Sony calls it a game feature and puts up articles telling their player base exactly how to do it on the official website.
