Are those quests FS quest, or regular quests ?

If it's FS quests, it sucks.

Entertainer quests, given out by Theatre Manager NPC's backstage in the static city theatres. These have nothing to do with the FS/Jedi stuff.

Yes, publish 10.2 is what they've been telling me. I'm going to modify the thread title accordingly.

Dunno whether Novice Musician is required.

I hope the song is for novice, at least, so there is a wider range of people who can play it. I wouldnt mind the instrument in master, though.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. New song/dance at Novice, and Xantha at Master Musician. Just seems appropriate to me for some reason.

On another note, there seems to be a change in the entertainer quests on TC - when they first came in, I was able to start them with a 0 0 1 0 Entertainer character I started specifically to see which skills were needed to begin the quests. As of two days ago, a 0 1 0 0 Entertainer was unable to get them going. Looks like Novice Musician (or Dancer) may now be required to begin the quests, which strongly implies to me that thiswill bethe 'cert' for both the new song and dance.

A new song or two is all well and good but I believe unless it's provided at Novice Musician (or maybe in the Entertainer tree) then it will be useless.

I'm currently working my way through to Master Musician and I find that unless I'm playing on my own, I'm generally stuck to playing SW1 or Rock due to the Entertainer group. I want to play new songs but I can't unless I'm willing to sacrifice XP; which means it's take longer to level so I'd still be stuck playing the same old stuff. Catch-22.

I believe that you should have access to most songs as early as possible, and then later on gain access to new instruments and flourishes. I'm really sick of hearing the same old SW1 and Rock in Cantinas. There aren't any real "bands" out there because it's hard to find enough Masters.

The Entertainment professions really need a revamp. If it wasn't for the social aspect (interacting with customers, etc) I would have dumped it ages ago. It takes too long to gain XP (I mastered Carbineer in 2 days - I'm onto my 4th week for Musician), it's not interesting due to the lack of different songs; is it any wonder most entertainers are /afk? Maybe songs could be taught in the same way languages are - this would allow more variety of songs for Entertainer groups....

I'm wondering what I'll do when I reach Master - without other people to play songs with, it becomes a solo profession; I want to be able to play in a band and put on real performances - not just SW1 or Rock.

Novices, shouldn't can't and won't be able able to get the new song. The point of being a novice is that you don't in fact know much, and are expected to pay your dues in the Entertainment world. Your goal should be to work hard, make friends, and learn how the community on your server works. By the time you are master and have a full repetoire that you have earned, you will have plenty of friends to play with. I hear complaints all the time about how no one gets to play Ceremonial in a full band, or Virtuoso is never played except to buff. To the first I say, you're not trying hard enough. I know about 15 Master Entertainers and get a chance to play full band Ceremonial every day or two, without going to special effort to do it. As for Virtuoso the reason its never heard, is that frankly it stinks on ice in a full band, and in most individual instances.

This new content is meant for people who have worked hard and waited long for a true Master level reward. You want it, earn it. You want to have fun being a musician? Work at it, because thats what it takes. If you expect your fun to be handed to you, I'm sorry, you're in the wrong profession.

PS Most people who know me In Character and In Game may be shocked at my tone. That's because it's not my character talking. In truth I'm much more like her than like this, but hearing people who haven't "done the time" expecting the benefits really irks me.

PPS Peasleblossom would probably say something along the lines of: "It's ok loves, no one expects you to know anything, leave the making people happy to the pros. Watch and learn and pray the Monkeybox Gods do not decide to fling poop while it is your turn to do penance on the crunch machine."

And here is your problem - you've obviously never been in a real band otherwise you would understand how the SWG concept of learning new songs is so obviously wrong. When I first learned to play drums I could still learn a song, albeit a much simpler version of that song.

What took time to learn were the more complicated parts, or to liken it to SWG - the Flourishes. Parts of songs that contained syncopation or triplet fills were substituted for simpler replacements - so I could still play a song, just not all the fancy bit too. Those "flourishes" came with time.

This meant, as a "Novice" drummer, I was still able to play songs with my "Master" Guitarist and "Master" bass player. They still got to play their fancy parts even though I kept it simple. This paradigm cannot be realised in SWG - hence why I stated what I did.

Unless you want to stick to SW1 or Rock, SWG does not allow bands to be made up of different levels of Musician.

You call a new song "content"? As for wanting fun - I pay my money to play this game and no profession should require work in order to be fun. If a profession is only fun when mastered, then that's a real problem.

Again I use a real life comparison - I didn't have to wait to become a "Master" drummer before I had fun. I didn't have to wait to become a "Master" drummer before I could learn songs. I didn't have to wait to become a "Master" drummer before I could play in a band with musicians of all levels.

PS Most people who know me In Character and In Game may be shocked at my tone. That's because it's not my character talking. In truth I'm much more like her than like this, but hearing people who haven't "done the time" expecting the benefits really irks me.

It really "irks" me when people get on their high horse and speak in such ways... Yes, your tone is not pleasant.

Open your mind, be open to opinions other than your own. Try to understand why I have said such things. It's simple really - make flourishes and instruments something to be earned and most songs available to all. This way we can have bands comprising of various levels of musicianship. This is not demanding fun be handed on a plate - it's suggesting a mechanism that may lead to more fun for all.

Besides, there's nothing to stop extra songs being awarded at Master etc as well.

I would like to incorporate those wonderful Gongs in the game. Make it a quest to get a set of "Drumsticks" to play the gong say like in the movie "The Hunted" where an individual is totaly beating it. These gongs would be awsome for simialr music.
