No the buffbots would just stop performing before the part of the macro where it yells a new buff cycle is about to begin.

Hmmm... Maybe the /join command could be changed to require the inclusion of the requestor's name. If I invite you to a group, you would be require to type "/join tran" instead of just /join.

Actually, the easiest would be removing /join from the macro language. I can see no reason other than unattended play to have a /join in your macro. Granted, 3rd party soulutions could be used, but the TOS do not allow them. Can someone give me an example where /join needs to be macroed?
In regards to the greater vision of the requested flourish for faster healing and better xp, I feel that it is a very LAME idea and in such perfectly valid for the Devs of this game (lame that is). Yes I do want more interaction, but a scripted system message of "please play this flourish" is not interaction, its a way to turn us into NPCs, but NPCs who have to sit at the keyboard to function. The incentive for the entertainer is bonus XP.........how often do the masters of our professions need to say "WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE XP.....WE'RE CAPPED". Also, I can already see many ways to exploit it or to use it to grief. Personally I WANT the healing to go to the AFK leveling people. I don't need the XP and if they get it they may leave faster. The real issueis buffbots. Hologrinders will not be here forever and the smaller number of healbots do not upset me too much. Few people tip for healing anyway.

I really dont think there is any way the devs can make it so that live entertainers have any advantage over AFKers. Entertaining in this game is simply a serious of commands which are easily macroed, nothing more.

Alright, not to be too bitter about that statement but....
Master Doctor gameplay consists of sitting on their duffs in front of a long line of needy people.
Master Merchant gameplay consists of just waiting around for people to buy stuff.
Master Pistoleer gameplay is no more then spamming their best attack.
All of the above are just as easily macroable and therefor shouldn't need to be fixed because it is so easy to do so.
If they really are keen on changing code, why not just drop the buff system from simply listening to something like they did with ID and create a GUI that just lists the people you are grouped with, lets you select them from a menu and click a buff button. Then a timer counts down on each player. Give it a nice fee section to, so that we can actually charge a flat fee. Like with ID, this system can't be macroed, forcing buffers to be ATK and still be able to play their music without getting requests every 2 seconds. Also as a /setperform replacement, add a new menu item when you click on someone.
The (TH) posted idea sounds like another nail in the coffin for song writers, espeically pre master.

And how does this make it worth while for masters to be ATK, who don't need the XP? Given buff botts are masters, is it going to change anything. Plus they still need to workout the difference between trully being ATK, as a buff bots could simply cycle through each flourish in a macro, so even with a tell to an AFK player they are going to hit on the right flourish pretty soon.

Yeah if they actually bothered to create a system to buff people it would greatly help alot. Instead of being left in the dark all the time. I usea buffmacro alot its the only sure way i know a buff has worked in the shortest space of time. Its what the customer wants. I also use the loopit to a great deal when I perform. Theres too many task needed to be done at once and I only have two hands. If I were a Dug it wouldn't be a problem, but im not im a Wookiee.
