Thread: Instrument Decay the key to ending AFK'ers and buffbots.
As I said in my last post the AFKers will find a way. I can already think of one... a program that would send a key press to the keyboard buffer every so often, say Shift+Crtl+M or something like that. Then just link the macro to that hotkey and even if there is issued a /dump the Macro would restart.
Yes it is a 3th party program, but it is impossible to se if it is me as player that walks by every 2 hours and presses the key combo or if it is a 3th party program. As long as there is reason to Preform AFK people will do it, its as simple as that.

Warryyr there is an easy way around that. Make the macro stop the playing or dancing every 1 hour and 55minutes. Then after a sufficient amount of time have passed restart. Perhaps stopping for 1 minute every 20 minutes to switch instruments would do.

/sigh
Ok, the first part - I've already said I won't discuss how the "play for 1:55 and wait" thing would be prevented. But, it would be prevented. You couldn't just play for slightly under the "trigger" time, or over the course of several playing sessions, to stop the box from popping up asking if you want to keep playing. This comment has been addressed multiple times, so please stop posting about how you can just play for 1:55 and the system is worthless. Read the posts before you reply about how **edit** an idea is.
As for the 2nd part, that would be out of the grasp of the average gamer who thinks, "yeesh, not an entertainer around in (insert random cantina name here) so I'll just start a new account and make it my AFK entertainer, and a buffbot." As it stands right now, it's far too easy for anyone with an emailed macro to just fire up the macro at the beginning of the day, and the character stays on until server reset. If someone had to go through the hassle of doing all you described to make their buffbot work, the hassle would outweigh the benefit after awhile, and some folks (at least) would just give in and stop buffbotting. And some would never get it to work in the first place.
Ok, seriously this time, this is the last time I'm replying to anyone who just says "yeah but you can just play for 1 hour and 55 minutes and beat your system, and anything you do I can work around it by (insert supposedly very clever workaround in here) and hahaha, your system is junk."
I'm not interested in helping people envision ways to defeat a system that doesn't even exist yet.
On the other hand, you're all giving me great ideas on how to stop you from doing all your little tricks to get around the system. So, it just makes my idea more robust - so go ahead, tell me all your exploits and I'll silently work out ways to prevent them (among other possible workarounds).
