Thread: Musician Bug Thread Updated 5/9/05
Player cantinas (and theatres) should heal BF, but they do not.
This may actually be more of an entertainer or player city (polotician?) bug, but no harm in repitition.
Regarding inspiration buffs not giving entertainers anybonus in musician and healing entertainer xp.
It is true that inspiration buffs do not give entertainers any bonus within structures where you can give inspiration buff to yourself. If you however play music outside such a structure, you will get bonus to both musician xp and entertainer xp gained. How do you gain entertainer xp outside a healing enabled structure? By being part of a band where someone is inside gaining entertainment healing xp. This will be shared with those outside, and if they have inspiration buffs, they will get a bonus to all the xp. Also, if someone in your band is gaining entertainment healing, and shares the xp with you, try stop playing: it should give you entertainment healing xpand bonus.
Probably several bugs contained in all this...not sure what is intended and what is bugs. I do not think it is right to get eh xp for not playing.
---EDIT 2: Already noted on the list, and somehow missed. Flog me at your leisure.---
I just experienced this on Dath. I'm in a group, and the song of choice is Funk (if only because it's one of the few songs the other musician and I haven't heard often enough and long enough to make our ears bleed) and I notice that, on the Traz, I'm getting 24 experience per round. Since I'm trying to cap out my musician experience for the second time, I decide perhaps I ought to play the Nal for better experience.
Except that, on Funk, I continue to get only 24 experience per round. In fact, that's what I get on Starwars4 as well.
If I switch the song to anything OTHER than these two songs, I get 50 experience per round. Switching back to either starts the experience meter going down 1 experience point per round until it settles back at 24.
While this may not be a big deal to musicians who have already capped out their experience, this sort of concerns me on everyone else's behalf. I think Funk and SW4 are both nice additions to our repetoir, however the experience difference for these two songs penalize either characters with higher skill and instruments who will be getting less experience, or characters who have either of these as their highest songs when grouped with more skilled musicians. A more skilled musician may refuse to play these songs due to the cut in experience (more than half, even if only slightly), and force an even lower song on the lesser skilled musician, or one high enough that the lesser skilled musician cannot even participate with.
This bug (assuming it IS an actual bug) may not be a big deal - but it does seem to me to foster ill-will between characters for whome experience is the motivating factor.
It should be noted that with each of these songs, the skill also gives the musician a new instrument. So the lesser skilled musician SHOULD be able to keep getting their maximum experience per round, regardless of what song they play IF they've got their new instruments on hand. Instruments are sort of hard to come by on Sunrunner at the moment though, so unless the lesser skilled musician already has the instrument, the more highly skilled musician has the resources and tool to craft the new instrument, or there magically happens to be a Traz or Bandfill on the Bazaar...this will be an issue.
[EDIT: Fixed a redundant statement.]

The things the eyes miss after 8 hours of staring at the Dath Science Outpost Cantina's walls. /cry
This is a bug that's related to the droids and /changebandmusic:
Somewhat similar to the playing/no flourish, if band music is changed mid-song, often you cannot /stopBand to get the droid to stop playing. (However, there are no issues I've seen so far if you /startBand, play a song, /stopBand, and then /start a new song... the droid responds fine in those instances.)
Maybe this will help them track down and squash the bug.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but when I play my ommni box, I have to have it targeted the entire time or I will spontaneously stop playing it after a few flourishes. This is very frustrating when trying to inspire someone when I am playing this instrument because as soon as a I target the client, I stop playing and the buff is cancelled.
the nalgaron is the same but is working as intended
If you want to buff someone using the omni or the nalgaron you need to type in /inspire playername
It is possible to time it with the flourish tic to target the buffee inspire and retarget the instrument before it reaches the next tic but its easy to miss it and stop anyway
