i think because how ever many skills you get in this system will carry over to new...and you can choose how you want the skills to be placed.

i think it would be foolish to assume that you'll be able to "give up" force healing 1 and get the equivalent to force manipulation 4.
i.e. you'll get credit for boxes done, but probably 1 pt for first tier, 4 pts for second tier, 8pts for third tier, etc. you'd then spend points according to the same forumula. that keeps it proportional to the xp expended to learn the box.
