Thread: The Mandovial: A Musician's... violin?

Heh, my last comment was a tease. If you don't like the emotes with the sounds, then turn off the sound and loose both.

But if you just removed them, a duplicate argument could be made for the SW1 sounds... "You wouldn't do those flourishes looking like you're in an orchestra! You should throw the guitar in the air and stuff!"

And so on...

Just another thing we get to endure until, um, the Hutt Casino I guess. When is that again? Publish 12?

I have to disagree with you there. Musicians in bands do move and "ham it up" when they are playing. I would be very bored if I just stood there and played. LOL IRL I sang in a band for a while. My first time on stage I was so scared the drummer threw his drum stick at me to get me to move!

Morden day RL bands do not have dancers, only singers. So of cause the guitarist jumps around, that is showmanship to create something for the eyes as well as for the ears.
Here in SWG we have something for the eyes, the dancers.

Witch is why I say remov them all. It a lot easier to do, and will not require many resources. Then that can add new flourishes for the different songs once they get around to it.

But if it really bothers you, disable sound in the Options window. You don't do the flourish emotes when your sound is turned off

Well I had that comment before, last time it was someone defending doing 2 flourishes, and then holding a 20 sec brake, even on Slithorn while playing SW1.

I cast my vote for more guitar sounding scores for the mando.

Well, I may be going against the grain on this one, but I actually prefer the classical strings sound of the mandoviol to the guitar riffs. Then again, I do love classical music...

It's nice that the mandoviol takes on different character for different songs. The guitar sounds work well in SW1. The strings sounds work well in the aforementioned songs. And I do love the Ennio Morricone spaghetti western-styled guitar sound from the mando solo tracks we've heard of the new song coming with the entertainer quests in 10.2... can't wait to play that lonely guitar solo from time to time.

Still, depending on future songs, I would hate for the devs to consider abandoning the classical strings entirely in favor of guitar riffs. I could see plenty of room for rich, deep cello sounds for a requiem type tune, and for some of the other song styles/tempo ideas that have been bandied about of late. Personally, while the Fender Strat sound on SW1 does lend a bit more edge to SW1, it just never felt like a Star Wars instrument sound to me, and seems out of place. Your opinion is your own.

I am not saying I hate the classical part of the Mando, I just think we need some more Guitar songs.

Well, the thing that gets me is when they choose violin when guitar might work better.

Like with rock. You'd think you'd get a nice electric guitar sound to rock to. Instead you get an "electric violin."

But I must admit, I love Ceremonial and Folk because of the Mandovial.

Does the Mandovial "go" well with anything in Ceremonial? I've been trying to find some sort of accompaniment that doesn't sound a bit off but am a bit hard-pressed...

I always play it with Bandfill/Ommni on my droid.

You have to combine it with two instruments, and then it does not sound so off (say nalargon and bandfill). Alternatively, avoid the flourishes that do not fit the style of the rest.

He understands that, he wants to know what instrument goes good with the Mandovial. Now I havent played Mando on Ceremonial in a while, but I might say Traz.
