I am certain you could do your entire show without using recursive macros or needing to refer to other macros. Yes it might require a little more attention to avoidbreaks in the performance, but this is a riskwhen running a live show in RL as well as in-game.
When the AFK problem first came to light in July 2003, people began to complain about it and wanted the CSRs to do their jobs in policing the game to prevent people from exploiting the system.
It became apparent that the CSRs weren't willing to do their jobs andpeople began wondering what could be done to the macro system to make AFK macroing more difficult.
By the time the hologrind entered full-swing, entertainers had realized that recursive macros were what allowed LAMers to function and many of us started advocating the removal of recursive macroing but were fought by other entertainers whose shows used recursive macros.
Now, with the buffbots plauging us, some entertainers have actually begun to advocate removing macros from the game altogether.
This has been a long process with SO many great suggestions on stopping the AFK macrotainers, but even with all this feedback over the course of more than a year, the Devs have not seen fit to fix the problems entertainers are having. Combat professions on the other hand are paid immediate attention: kill stealers are warned/banned by CSR's, "camping" situations are resolved by forced relocations and bannings, intstanced themeparks are introduced--all to help prevent combat griefing. Meanwhile, entertainers are being griefed by LAMers and buffbots and not one thing is done to alleviate the situation. It is long past time for us to take matters into our own hands and do what we can to discourage the abuse we have been subjected to. If our pleas for help had been listened to in the past 13 months perhaps we wouldn't have people calling for the complete removal of macros from the game.
One last point before I tie this off. I've noticed a real defeatist attitude out here on the entertainer boards lately. People seem to think that we will have to sit around and wait for the Devs to do something for us in order for live entertainment to make a comback--okay, this is true to an extent, but what do you really expect the Devs to do for us? Make a system where we have combats coming to us and saying "I got a message that if you play flourish 4 I'll heal faster play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4play flourish 4"? Yeah we might get that...to quote the first episode of Red vs Blue: whoop-de-*edit*ing-do. If there's anything we've learned in the past year, its that the Devs really don't care to do a thing for us. This doesn't mean we need to take the neglect. There are lots of things we can do: use the forums, e-mail/PM Devs, snail mail SOE, and use the in-game mechanics to effectively do the job the CSR's are supposed to be doing.
Heh I need to get back to posting more often. That way I won't feel the need to go so long in my posts.
Sorry about the length.

If you are gonna run a buff bot at least do it in a privat cantina not the public ones.
To me that is griefing the live player looking to play.
You buff bot can register in your cantina and sit there all day not bothering or spaming anyone.

"Only the first paragraph of my post really referred to what you said, Beery. I didn't say that I wanted all macro function removed, only the recursive macros, and unless your macros are complex beyond any I've ever seen, there's no reason for you to click a new macro on every 4 seconds if you were deprived ofthe recursive macro."
I think we're talking at cross purposes here. I thought your post was in response to mine, which basicallysaid "no way could I do without macros". I didn't mention recursive macros. I am for doing away with recursive macros. My post said that Icouldn't play without mymacros (by which I mean the stringing-together of flourishes into a set that you can start going by clicking on your toolbar). If they got rid of macros, 2 hours later I wouldn't be playing this game anymore, hehe.

That was about the gist of what I'd hoped to get across...macros are needed, but recursive macros aren't.

Well maybe I'm just lazy, but there is absolutely no way that I'm tapping keys every 4 seconds for 25 minutes every time I want to put on a show. I went to enough trouble figuring out the flourishes (a job that would be infinitely more difficult without macros by the way). I don't see why I should have to work like a dog at something that's supposed to be fun.
