I personally LOVE the falls, and I enjoy the randomness of them. Its not like they actually do anything adverse mechanically, but they can be so fun to improvise with. So I tell all of those who want to learn from me, never, NEVER dance armed, and learn how to deal with falls as they occurr. Trust me, you'll see the difference in your tips if you dance unarmed and work with your falls rather than hold a weapon and cheat.

Well, I don't love the falls - I cant stand them (er, no pun intended ). I don't think Masters should fall and neither do most of my patrons. They think it looks ridiculous. However, I rarely arm myself. If I do, its with my VKs (and half the time, ifI am armed, its because I forgot to unequip them when I entered the cantina). They don't stop all of the falls, but they do reduce their number significantly and the VKs aren't as noticable as larger weapons.

A friend who is coming up the ranks of dancer believes that the falls increase with higher dances. I'm not sure about that, but I suspect there are a couple of dances that are plagued with falls - which is why I end up sticking to pop2 and the exotics (and the exotics' limited number of flos . . . ) I've also noticed something when I'm in a macro (which, anymore is only when I powerbuff) - if I happen tofall while flo'ing, I'll continue to fall. Its as if a certain flo gets bugged or something and suddenly its a fall instead of a flourish. I used to go in and change the flo number or stop and start over, but I can't do that in a powerbuff . . . The other night, while buffing several people on Endor, I not only had to contend with the buff bug, but lots of ungainly falls, too. /sigh

I thought I read a thread somewhere in which Dancers were actually asking for the ability to fall *intentionally*. That's a first. But yeah, I don't think a Master should fall under ordinary circumstances. If I were designing the system, I'd make Dance (and Music) involve a little more user input, and I'd make "riskier" Dance and Music flourishes more subject to mistakes. But I'm not designing the system.

Theres actually a way not to fall that doesn't involve taking advantage of any bugs, doesn't make you look silly with a stick permanently glued to your hand, is 100% garanteed.

Don't do your highest dance. As a master dancer, I never fall on anything but exotic and lyrical. When I had master entertainer too, even lyrical I didn't fall on. (Lyrical2 I still did, but I never saw a point to do lyrical2 over lyrical)

But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

Woot! Dancers hijacking the musician forum!

I have to agree with Tiagi's observation that the falling rates observed between pre- and post-master entertainer did seem to decresase. As for the point of Lyrical 2...for some reason, I find stringing flourishes in Lyrical 2 to be much, much easier than trying to do it in Lyrical.

As far as the falling animes go, I absolutely LOVE the falling animation of lyrical. I actually look forward to it and cheer when it happens. But then again, I laughed until I cried when I licked a stormie.

As for musicians blasting out a bad note, I am not sure this isn't an actuallity. Is it just me, or have any of you ever been in a >2 person music assemble and had a flourish match that just grated you out of your chair?

I had that theory too. But ran some tests, and it is something else causing the mis-sync. It will happen to two masters playing starwars1 on a slitherhorn as much as an ommni on virtuoso. So if it is intentional, it's not related to dancer falling in any way.

Oooo, if they gave the ability to fall on purposeI'd be so happy. I have this special dance macro where I do Rythmic, and only do the "seed planting flourish," after a bit then I have it tumble me to prone, stand , then start dancing again. I call this my harvest dance. I like how when you tumble you can go flying backwards if you target something behind you. But when I actually fall on a flourish, man that's sweet.

I'd pick up dancer if they put in intentional falling.
