I think it's totally lame if I'm reading them right. So I put so many points into a profession, whether it be an entertainer, combat, or crafter profession, and master it. But now to be a true master I have to play Jedi Outcast with everyone else? I just wish the devs had stuck to their guns and not urinated all over continuity. Not only do I have to see Jedi everywhere, but now I have to be one or be obsolete? I'm hoping that the ability to augment your skills with cheap Force skills can't make you better than a master. Like maybe a lowly novice rifleman could use the Force to bring himcloser tothe master rifleman speed cap. But I hope they don't have it set up so that a 4234 rifleman with some Force abilities will be every bit as good as a master rifelman. That way the professions on their own are still superior andeveryone still gets to play Jedi Power Battles. I'm not sure if they intend things to be what I am interpreting them to be. Does this mean a master doc will buff better with Force skills? Will a master architect with Force skills make higher BER harvestors and have less critical failures? Will a master musician with Force skills give better buffs and heal faster? Clue me in on what you guys/gals think this "augmenting" of normal skills will mean. The way I'm seeing it is not a pleasing one to me and I just hope that I'm wrong as hell on what they mean by this.
I am sure that we won't know any time before you do. We are still in the speculation stage ourselves. Like with all things, time will tell.
Well, I think this game needs more room for character growth, and the Jedi revamp sounds like it will provide that.
Yes, it's somewhatinconsistent with continuity to have lots of Jedi running around. But is it inconsistent to have lots of merely force-sensitive folks? I'm not so sure on that one. Sure, Vader, Yoda and Obi-Wan think there are only a couple force-sensitive types around. But those guys were wrong about all sorts of things; who's to say they're not wrong about this?I haven't read all the EU books, butthoseI have read don't seem to foreclose the possibility of other FS types in the universe. In fact, given what weknow about The Force, it seems to me highly implausible that the galaxy is completely empty of FS people. Empty of Jedi I can see; empty of FS?
As far as Jedi go, the Star Wars films are all about Jedi. They occupy 50% or more of screen time. In SWG, we see them far less often than that -- almost never. It's always seemed odd to me that we should deprive of a Star Wars game of the most distincitve thing about Star Wars. Without Jedi, the Star Wars universe is far less interesting. (It is for that reason that I find the EU books rather flat.) Given the choice between seeing Jedi too rarely and too frequently, I'd prefer too frequently. I think the revamp will make the game feel more like Star Wars, not less.
There has to be a lot of Force sensitive people in the galaxy, because even assuming no Jedi survived the purge, it has been established that there is no need for a parent to be FS for the child to be FS. (After all, if this were so and all stronglyFS children were identified by the Republic and taken for training, they would have run out of Jedi long ago since the Jedi can't reproduce...) This means that chances are there are hundreds of thousands (most likelymillions)of people running around in the galaxy during this timewho are FS but who are not trained as Jedi.
At first I wasn't entirely comfortable with this change, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. This will defenitely (IMHO)bring a better sense of Star Wars to the game.

Read the Han Solo Trilogy(the most recent one). No Jedi in there, and still, in my opinion one of the best EU books for SW ever...
