Entertainers debating this since July 03, and every time we think we're getting somewhere on the issues, they've thrown another punch. Hologrinding, Christmas holos, buffbot badges, and now banning Live Entertainers. Here are a couple threads if you're interested in doing some reading on the issue.
From your Correspondent: inviting suggestions on AFK'ing

Actually Tralmek AFK has been the #1 concern of entertainers all the way back to beta. The day before the game went live a major change was made to entertainer skill gain to stop AFKers from gaining xp. In beta the way AFK players gained skill was to join a group. The group would perform band flourishes and every player would gain xp... At the keys or not. The people who were doing all of the band flourishes got a little peeved that others could gain skill from their work so the change was made and xp was removed from band flourishes for all but the person doing the actual command.
The only reason this change was made was to combat AFK skill gain. Well... It turns out that this wasn't the answer to stopping AFK skill gain. On almost every server within a week of the game going live certain players had mastered dancer and musiciam largely AFK. It didn't take long for the working macro to circulate amongst the entertainer community along with the easy skill gain strategies. It wasn't really a pressing concern though until mind buffs suddenly had value.
Soon after that Holocrons brought even more people to our professions. Everyone wanted the fastest method of skill gain to get to master... One group wanted to setup their buff bot to ensure full mind while grinding combat professions the other group wanted to simply master the profession in order to have mastered it in hopes of attaining jedi. The only ones who suffered though were those who really wanted to play the profession.
Havent we had such a FUN history?

NJ not to burst your bubble but AFK players have been an issue in EQ for a long time and have never been dealt with. This is an SOE product as well. I just don't see them removing the additional income of all those alt accounts.
As much as I would love for that to happen I just don't think it will. If it does I'll jump up and down with joy but I'm simply not getting my hopes up.

Just a little advice to some of the players
I strongly suggest you DO NOT choose SWG or any other online game infront of friends, girlfriends, boyfriends etc.!
Jedi is NOT your life, it is NOT a must, even though you want it a lot.
I've seen so many of my mates falling down the deep black hole just because of some stupid game.
I say again, DO NOT choose a game infront of a friend, wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend etc.!
It is when they are gone, that you finally realise what an idiot you have been.

The post makes perfect sense.... real life is more important than a game. Maybe something happened to him, who knows.... and it's off-topic but it's true nonetheless.

Many players read this forum to learn about the Jedi before they become one
I thought it might be best to give them a warning here
