I just don't think it's fair that I charge for my services. All it costs me is time, and I enjoy doing it, so I just accept tips!

Which server do you play on... Denial?

Starsider.

I get the feeling that a lot of you are jealous... Sorry if that sounded cocky, but a lot of you are upset that I do it for free.

Do you also play an artisan that gives away everything too? If so could you start one on Bria so I can have you make items for me to resell?

Just letting XeroAnarian know that I feel just like he does. I enjoy playing music, I enjoy the interaction with people at events I might play at, or just in the cantina. Since I mastered way back in September or October of last year I still go to cantina's pretty frequently just to play and talk with people. It's just fun for me, and as such I don't tell people free, but I do tell them it costs whatever they think is fair or they wish to pay - I can't put a price on me enjoying myself. Sure I'm not a rich **edit** (or at least I wasn't, until recently thanks to TKM). But I never needed to be, because of my friendships with people I got clothes free or in exchange for playing music. The clothes I didn't get free I bought with the tip cash I got (and back then nearly everyone did tip). Then I mastered and went out to learn the ways of TKA, which I just mastered last week (with a 8 month hiatus somewhere in there).

But even with that break, I still enjoy playing music, just met a musician named Milly the other day and jammed with her after paying for buffs (and tipping her for my mind buff...still wish we could do it ourselves)...taking my own time and money away to enjoy another musicians company who also loves to play music (and she had some great tunes w/ the flourishes she had set up) and for the joy of another musician. Not often that I get to play with Master Musician/Master Entertainers w/ droids y'know ^^.

And no, I'm not in a band, I don't want the obligation of having to do gigs, because then I would have to charge as it would be more business than pleasure. Much more fun freelancing.

Something between 10k - 15k / hour plus all travel costs.Since I am not a combat character I do not look at how much I could have made in that same amount of time, but rather look at it as paying my house/speeder maintainence, buying of stimsand maybe more clothes

Sure, if I was an Artisan, and loved making things, neither of which apply to me.

I'll have to third the "no specific charge" team. My response to such a tell, weddings, etc., is always "I don't have a set rate, I'll go there and have fun and jam and entertain, tips and donations are not sneered at thought /wink" For several reasons:

1) Its free advertising. People who see you there know you take pride in being an 'entertainer'. I get more tells for buffs after such event performing. The 10k per buff per group/person I make in the after math well exceeds 50k or 100k or what have you. Not to mention the organizer of said event tips 100-500k anyhow.

2) If anyone has ever waited tables, the same basic situation occurs. You have a party of 15 people. Normally the restaurant automatically charges 18% surcharge for tip. Usually the party pays 18%. While its a gamble, when I used to wait tables, if I did not put a surcharge on the check, I almost always got more than 18%. Thats my mentality. If an IDer asks for 10k for a stat migration, they get 10k. If an IDer asks for "whatever you think is fair" they always get more than 10k from me.

And for the record, I am a pure entertainer. M.Musician/M.Entertainer/and a mix of dancer and ID. No combat missions for me. But I have that kind of money to spend, and have never "charged" for a buff or event.

It helps to believe you are going to an event to be an entertainer, not just get paid. So whether i get 10 credits, or 100k credits, I am happy, and don't feel slited, or do I "flag" (blackflag) a person for not tipping what i think is fair.

I admit that I usually tell whomever is requesting my services that once the event is over, to just pay me what they feel is fair. However I am usually running around with 2-3k creds in my pocket if I am lucky, so I have to ask for payment just to be able to get to their location if they are off tatooine.

Of course there is nothing wrong with asking to get spotted some creds for the ride there =)

I would say 5k-20k plus travel and building entry fee. Per entertainer.

Well Springbok an artisan can dig up his resources from the ground for free. They can make items out of those resources forfree. They can even chose to craft themselves weapons, armour, vehicles or harvestersout of the resources for free.

Therefore an artisan can give everything away for free. Now using your logic on musician.....

A musicianbuys qualityartisan resources, spends money on clothes, droids, heals combat players mindsall day long andcrafts instruments. They buy armor and buffs to survive out in the wilds while acquiring all the needed things they need to make one top notch performance for an unpaying audience that hates them so much it would rather spend $15 not to have to deal with them, they usually have a combat class to some degree and have to pay for the weapons and other things associated with it just to be a fourth class citizen in nearlyevery community in the game.

"server you play on...denial?" statement you made in prior postwas a gem also.

Your a community leader? lol.

Lets see....

An artisan buys quality scout/ranger harvests, spends money on factories, harvesters, surveys all day long, crafts lengthy pieces together to make top-notch items, weapons, droids, vehicles, buildings, and equipment. They buy armor and buffs to survive out in the wilds while acquiring all the needed things they need to make one top notch piece of equipment, they usually have a combat class to some degree and have to pay for the weapons and other things associated with it.

A musician hops on a speeder, goes to a gig, maybe gets a quickness buff, and goes and has a blast for and with those present.

I see your point.

You must live in denial with us.

"make items for me to resell" you said.I fail to see how your quips make sense. Your comparing making itemsby an artisan to why some musicians don't charge at parties....You can't resell the entertainment we provide, at a wedding, party, or any ol' jam session. Your analogy just plain sucks. Sorry.

I can gurantee you one thing. He most certainly has more money than you from entertaining because he is entertaining. You are getting paid for being an entertainer. Its pretty clear in this gamean entertainer entertaining is not an absolute.
