Thread: Mind buffs on self?

"and as for people paying us 1000 for the buff, it will never happen as people can get the benifits from a dancer and musician just by clicking watch/listen while we are playing or dancing"

If they make it so that the buffs would last longer if the Musician were to apply them manually, then it would be viable to get paid for them.

A 20 minute buff? This is nothing when compared to the power of the Doc Side.

Lol typical within one thread we are tried sentenced and hug out to dry . I find out we have mind buffs, Docs do them better, and people are already mad at us for not responding.

Ahh this is the life.

Anyway this mind buff thing sounds interesting. No we will not make any money on it cause we cannot choose to do a mind buff but at least its something to play around with. Music mind enhancement i guess actually does something. Time to grab those powerups from the bazaar i guess.

Oddly enough I thought that paticular skill made it so effects got bigger and brighter.

Musician's can min buff, but there is a trick to doing it as far as I know.

I just found this out last nite.

For the Mind Buff to WORK you must. Selece watch/listen from the radial menu. It then take mininum of five minutes for it to take effect. Once 5 minutes has passed select stop watching/stop listening from the radial menu. (Running away or typing the commands dont count you must use the radial menu) Doing this exact process I saw a Rodian on Lok get a +350 MindPool buff. I don't know how long it lasted though.

1) Many of my posts were close together. Overall, I was posting in this thread for 3 days with no useful responses.

2) The mind buffs work, but you have to follow the instructions above. I did test and verify it last night.

3) The mind buffs do not apply to self. You have to watch/listen to someone else.

4) You can't say doctor buffs are better, they are different. Doctors can not buff the mind pools. This means that a doctor buffed player can still be incapped quickly with a few head hits.

5) Dancer and musician buffs stack. This means a buff of up to 1000 mind. This is very significant.

6) If more people know about this, your services will be seen as even more useful, and people will tip more. I have always tipped very well, and I will now tip even better for a master or even master technician.

7) If you are in a PA, or otherwise associated with a PVP group, you should work with them to be present in a location for pre-buffing before a major battle (preferably, one musician and one dancer). You can even arrange prices before hand. This doesn't apply to cities where there are always master dancers or musicians, but most cities do not have a reliable presence.

8) Yes, definitely time to grab those powerups! I have seen them often, and didn't know what they were about. For those of you unfamiliar with these, look in the bazaar in the misc category, subcategory general items. Look for Skill Enhancements. There are two kindls. Only the tapes work. You can tell the difference from the image. Look for ones that give bonuses to "mind enhancement (musician) [or dancer, if you do that]."

9) The techniques branch also gives the effects and such, just like you thought, Skyshar. But mind enhancement is one of the bonuses.

One remaining question. Does this only work in a cantina, or does it work in a camp out in the field? Can someone test this? If so, entertainers can also sell their services to hunting groups, either by a pre-determined price, or just sharing in mission rewards without engaging in combat.

I hav ebeen told that it works in camps and private homes and cantinas.

Jeez, tapes are still the only ones that work? been awhile for that.

As far as I know, they are still the only ones that work. From what I understand, the segments only work in armor anyway, so that isn't any use to you guys. All skills enhancements are somewhat bugged still. You have to get naked before you log off, then put your clothes back on when you log back on, otherwise they don't get applied correctly, and you will actually temporarily go below normal by removing one.

I tested this on five players today, in and out of cantinas, and only one reported any kind of buff -- a doctor who said my playing enhanced his mind by 10 points for only a minute or so. I'm a Master Musician, I used my lights, I played for twenty minutes, I had the listeners /listen and stop /listening with the radial menu. No buff.

I also tried it myself: I tried to /listen to other musicians (with radial menu) and then to stop /listening (again with radial). Again no buff. Now, I didn't listen to a Master Musician, but the Musician did have a Bandfill. I'll be performing with another Master Musician tonight, so if I get a chance I'll test it again. In the meantime, can you tell me what (if anything) I did wrong? The reports of a buff are persistent enough that I want to track down exactly how it works so that everyone can know about it -- if it works.

On reflection, I'm not sure my testers did stop listening or watching with the radial menu, so I'm going to try this again tonight. A number of dancers are saying it does work -- but only if the performer is a Master. I'll post again later tonight, after I've given this another try.

NewJedi:

I have attempted it with my companion who is a Musician, and it does indeed work.

You MUST listen for a minimum of 5 minutes and then use the Stop Listening option, but I received a boost of:

250 Focus

300 Willpower

It lasted 15 minutes (for a listen of 5 minutes). Its not much, but it does work. Where is this documented in game by the way? The first I heard of it was on this forum.

Yep, it works. I /watched a master dancer for about 5 minutes, and my Mind was buffed by 330 for about 10 minutes. The key was to STOP watching after a certain point; only then did the buff kick in. It also appears that the performer has to be a Master dancer or musician, or at least a very highly skilled entertainer.

330 isa pretty significant buff! I've read elsewhere that it lasts for double the amount of time that you /watch or /listen, to a max of 30 minutes. That sound right? Also, I only noticed it for the Mind stat; next time I'll watch Focus and Willpower more carefully.

"I've read elsewhere that it lasts for double the amount of time that you /watch or /listen, to a max of 30 minutes"

- I watched my Master Musician friend for 5 minutes (there abouts, he ran out of action just after the 5 minute point), and the buff lasted for 15 minutes.

- The buff only occurred for my Focus and Willpower. I didn't get a buff on my Mind stat. Very interesting.

- Again I ask where was the documentation on this affect? I guess it was an easter egg, or someone just plain forgot to document it somewhere.
