Thread: Buff weirdness

Okay the problem has been resolved!!! Whoohoo!! 8)
Here's what went down...
I finally hooked-up with a ingame csr (after my 3rd ticket on this), he apepars while im running into theed starport (of all places) and ends up teleporting me to edge of city so we can escape the lag. Then he gets to business. The very first thing he tells me to do is... "Surrender all your musician and entertainer skills" i was like ummm, are...you...sure...? lol. The following are the things he tried...
Had me surrender all music and entertainer skills then he gave me entertainer novice back. Didnt work. Had me do the same thing again but this time he rebooted my game. didnt work. He then reset my server connection (???) and restarted my game. didnt work. Then he said i had a pending image design stat migration that wasnt finished. Which was news to me considering the last time i changed my stats was shortly after the toon was made almost a year ago, long before ID's did that job. but maybe someone tried to start a ID session on me or something and it got screwy. So he gave himself ID skills and finished the session, which did nothing. He then restarted my game one final time, grouped with me and we both played instruments and he had me do flourishes. I still couldnt see anything but he told me the problem was fixed and that he had to go. He then told me to make sure to have my sound turned on right before he vanished. Yes i made sure he gave me all my previous skills and stored up xp back
. I then went and turned my sound back on but stil couldnt see myself flourish. Frustrated i headed off. I used a shuttle to go to a city and when i got there i decided to try one more time and lo-and-behold... I WAS DOING FLOURISHES!!!!!! 8)
So it very well could of been the sound thing all along, but its hard for me to say for certain considering the massive bank of experiments the csr performed on my toon (I feel so violated)

PS- Everything is working perfectly now. As a matter of fact im buffing faster then ever thanks to fragpuppies nifty little 3:10 buff tip. *deep relaxing sigh of relief*

Yes my sound was off the whole time so it very well could of been the cause of it. Which is such a painful thought. Thats what i get for having my sound off as a master musician eh? =) hehehe

Well, I'm delighted to hear it's fixed. So did you have your sound off all that time? My guess is that turning it back on is what fixed this. I just want to know in case this arises again. If turning off sound fixes it (maybe after zoning or using a shuttle), then in the future I can ask the devs to ask the CSRs not to put people through all the skill-surrendering you went through.

Thanks frag for the assistance. Nothing is working yet tho. The only thing im missing is the animations. I burn the action and everything else but no flourish animations at all. This happens whether im in a group or not, and whether i use a macro or not. Since I've posted this thread I've been visited 3 times so far in game by csr's to help and they all say the same thing. "Check your option settings and make sure you have the 'show animations when talking' box selected. *rolls eyes* Soooo... anyone got any other suggestions? Im getting desperate...
