Thread: *Sarcasm* The sky is falling! The sky is falling! *Sarcasm*

I guess I didn't do a very good job with my first post about getting my point across. I tried to get too creative.
This is what I am trying to say:
1. I do not percieve the jukebox as a threat to my profession.
2. We get a better response from the devs when we constructively present our ideas to them.
3. When we get a change many people have the "Its about time" mentality. Even if the change was overdue we should at least thank them and then proceed to do what I said in number 2 about what would make the change better.
4. I said WE are becoming whiners. Myself included. I complain just as much as everyone else. I'm trying to get past that.
This is an opinion, my opinion. This is my response to the posts that I have been seeing in the forums. Yes I could have worded my post better and in a more constructive way. I should have taken my own advice. But this is not an apology for what I said.
Thats it. Like it or not that is what I think. Maybe my opinion doesn't hold much weight because I'm not a regular in the forums but I am a fellow entertainer.
Now I am going to go be an entertainer, not just another name in the forums.
P.S. I should have also been more clear that this thread wasn't a shot at everyone discussing the jukebox, merely the ones who apparently quit because of it or acted like this was the end of the world. Actually, when writing this thread I was not thinking about the longer threads discussing the issue, mostly a few smaller ones that just hit me the wrong way.

Hence, the reason why my thread "Dark Times and A New Hope (The Jukebox)" has it's first line as:
"End of the world? No."
Rather than calling people whiners, I decided to try to raise the spirits of our community. Like MusicalDina just said, complaining without good reason or justifying your position is whining. Complaining while backing up your opinion is constructive criticism.
We're not here to just cry all day. We're here to try to make our professions matter in this game again. To do so, we need to express what we feel is wrong, and WHY, and perhaps a way to make it better or more effective, or more fun.
And, of course, you're always welcome to voice your opinion on the forums here. All folks are welcome. Different viewpoints and such are a great thing - that diversity is really needed to make sure everyone's ideas and opinions on things are reflected. But, calling forum regulars "whiners" and coming in here saying things like, "Now I am going to go be an entertainer, not just another name in the forums" is counter-productive and won't exactly endear you to anyone.
Not beinga "whiner" as you described, and instead being all sunshine and tranquil when you have a problem with this game will NOT get anyone anywhere. It will not help the game, or the Devs. The last thing the Devs want is for us to say how lovely and absolutely fabulous everything is for us, when really we're ready to quit because things aren't fun.

I disagree. Not everybody is welcome here. It has been proven several times owners of buffbots that try to start flame was with us are not welcome. Not because we dont value their viewpoint on our profession (no matter how much we disagree) but because they always try to incite us to make us look bad. They post garbage that makes us look bad if we respond and make us look worse if we dont.
Instead of thinking that this is hurting us I think this: The devs now can't say that they can't do this for us, things like the ambient music.
My feelings about things like this don't just stem from the jukebox. Its from a lot of issues.
Obviously we need to voice our opinions and suggestions about our profession. We don't have to be happy with what we have. I just think the forum should be more about how to have fun with our profession with what we have now.
It just seems like almost every thread nowadays is a complaint. I know people are in game doing something fun, I'd just like to hear about the stuff others do with what we have.
Yes, there is a lot of complaints. There are positives too. The cantina crawls, people talking about what instrument they like sounding with what song, about that awesome customer they had, about great ideas they came up while trying to get to sleep. Its just the ones that get the most posts are complaints, and in honesty i would say about half the posts in this forum are complaints. Notice though, all of those complaints are valid (and with the exception of the buffbot threads) they are all civil and are widely discussed. The positives and the negatives almost always come out whether it is a popular idea or not.

The jukebox did get some things that musicians have been wanting.
I agree, and herein lies the problem. they gave it to a box instead of us.

Again, I agree. All of our complaints about our profession isnt solely about the jukebox. It stems from a ton of issues that have piled up unfixed since BETA. Thus, we know the jukebox isnt the end of the world, nobody is really saying that the jukebox is- what it is though, is yet another cut from which we are bleeding profusely.

Personnally I think the Jukebox has some great possiblities. I set one up in my mini mall last night and it was great to be able to enter the mall sit back and craft or browse theother vendors with music playing. Now if anyone knows a musician who is willing to set up in ashopping center and play all day on the off chance someone will pass by and only cost 75k for 24hours please point them out to me. In my opinion I do not believe a Jukebox will take the place of a good band at any event hosted by other players and not just because the box can only be placed in a building, sure it can play alot of music we can't, yet. But hopefully now they will start working some of the songs from the jukebox into our play list. Some of these songs I don't see us being able to play anytime soon unless they give us a new instrument that with synthize(sp) the sounds of nature. One of the best songs on the Jukebox in my opinion is Naboo Soothing because it has the sound of a stream running in the background.
