so if u have a buff bot and don't mind waiting 6 min for a 3 hour max buff then what the point of even breaking into novice dance or music? Not that I mind, free's up skill pts for other things

Because that is not the only ability slated to replace mind buffs...in fact, inspiration buffs are considered are base level ability, like mind wound healing in the old system. Just like at launch of SWG, we have two main abilities: BF Healing and another. Our other, more powerful abilities will follow. For THOSE, you will need more than Novice Entertainer. You'll also need to be ATK.

*cheers* I really hope you're right about this. I love being a musician, even if I don't always feel like doing it. I'd hate to see the only advantage to it is more songs to play.

At this time there is no new master abilities to replace those taken away and no real indication that we will get anything, SOE has a track record of makinf vague promises and never following thru. Do not count on anything that is not put in place as anything SOE tells us can not be trusted.

I will have to contradict you a little bit. SOE also has a track record of mkaing SPECIFIC promises and not following through.

One thing about the eh xp gained from refilling the duration on the inspiration buff.

If a patron stops listening for a few seconds (10-20) then starts listening again, the entertainer gains 20 eh xp for filling up those 10-20 seconds.

This means that you, with the current system, can grind out eh xp by having someone repeatedly starting and stopping listening to you... you can also with more limited success gain some extra eh xp by starting and stopping to play, but since it takes some time to start and stop playing, this method is not as efficient. Speed grinding eh xp will with thepost CUsystem be done by having a willing victim use a /listen /stoplisten macro. I am not sure if this is intended or not...

Yay....someone else posted about this. Now I don't have to feel bad about spiling the beans about it.

Iwas doing a self stop/start macro on this to get my EH to get to Nov Music on TC. The best you can get is 30 EH XP per minute so that 125K xp up in Wound and Fatigue 4 looks MIGHTY painful. You can use the time of the stopping music to your benefit. If you do a /stopmusic, you will still collect XP until you actually stop playing (only one tick happens). Because you get either one ot two ticks of EH XP per each stop and restart only do 2 sets of flos between each. If this is not changed I can share my macros later or I can help people on TC.

Regarding doing the /stoplisten/startlisten and having other people do that for you, that can be very effective especially because you can have ANY NUMBER of people doing this. If you get 10 friends doing this for you that's 100XP per tick, 600 XP per minute, 36000 per hour. I do not suggest using both at the same time. If you get out of sync in the stops and starts then noone gets good healing.

Ok kinda sick here that I'm replying to myself.....

I've found yet another way to possible speed up (exploit?) the EH xp, but as I do not yet know all of the effects of doing it I'm gonna reserve distribution. If any other musician is out there or if someone wants to roll one up on TC-Ep3, come on by Bestine and we'll test.

I can confirm that the buffs work in camps and simply add to the time of an existing buff (i.e. I had 7 minutes left, and then at the next tick it said "your inspiration has increased to 17 minutes."

The buffs also were still there when I logged on the next day. They seem to persist to the next play session. Not sure if that will work after a server reset.

Hmmm...actually they said that being ATK would allow you to provide a better buff, not that you need to be ATK to buff.

Another puzzling reversal of direction by the Devs - is AFK ok, or not ok? I'm tired of guessing, I'm tired of dreaming of a day when I can really play an Entertainer and have fun helping the public again. I'm just...tired.
