Thread: Buff Concerns
Spend as you will ,
The Musician's buff is far better than just the Mind buff. Not only is it a faster regen of mind... each action takes less mind away. Put those two together and your mind shouldn't drop much at all. Instead of just letting the mind take damage and regen the same but just do it longer. Only heal for mind is sitting and waiting. Bigger Mind bar = longer wait! Better Willpower/Focus = Less wait if any at all.
The seperation of both stats, I feel is great idea. I relate it with real life. You go see a great dance ... I'm inspired of new thoughts and new ideas relating to an increase in Mind. You hear a good song, it's stuck in your head for hours most perfer this while doing work. Increasing my focus and will to do something. This may be a rough relationship but that how I see it and I think it's a great seperation. Makes both professions equally vaulable (depending on what you want.)

I haven't written one yet, but I'm going to try and write a buff macro and add the alarm that comes with the game. Hit the macro for targeting and /setperform and have the timer set for 5 mins counting down and when the timers up an alarm will sound and you also will get a message that says your timer has rang.

I am a Master Musician and while the buffs arewonderful, I have several concerns about them.
1st... and most important... We are unable to buff ourselves. If doctors are able to buff themselves we should have the same option. I am not partial to what method this would take (target self or a craftable item such as headphones or a mirror for dancers) as long as we are given the option.
Personally I don't have a problem with this. It does create a need for a musician/dancer to find another one to buff their mind. It may change though, since everyone wants to be able to buff themselves.
2nd... Dancers have been given the ability to buff the Mind stat while we were given the secondary stats of Focus and Willpower. While these are inportant stats for regeneration of the mind, some people do not bother with buffing secondary stats. I have already encountered several people who said they would rather find a dancer and pay them to get their mind buffed and then skip the secondary stats. This will hurt the potential income that musicians will recieve from selling buffs. I think that musicians and dancers should be able to buff ALL of the mind stats, or pick which one of the three to buff just like a doctor is able to apply a buff to a particular stat.
Honestly, musicians do have the better buff in most cases. A buff to will and focus is better than a mind buff except for in combat where your enemies may hit your mind hard. of course both is the best...but if you're doing something like ID then a mind buff is pointless if you have 1k will and focus, because you won't lose any mind.
3rd... There are some (actually very minor) bugs with the buffs right now, such asa stat dropping below its lower level as the buff wears off, this needs to be addressed.
Yes, or sometimes the max goes up but the stat itself doesn't.
4th... If possible there should be some kind of notification when a buff has achieved its maximum effect. A system message like "%TT has recieved the maximum stat increase from you" or something would be nice.
I agree, the messages need to work better. If I try to focus on someone who isn't /listening I should get a message that they aren't listening. And the messages that we do get need to be fixed grammatically. Instead of %TT it needs to show the actual name, and for the listener it needs to have a singular subject, not "their."
These are the problems that I have noticed. Please add any other concerns that you may have.
I also want a visual cue that I'm buffing someone. Maybe notes over their head like when you're playing music or something.

While this is true, I don't mind. We are a social profession. We cannot buff ourselves, but the next musician can. And he won't charge his fellow musicians any money, would he ?

I think it's good to have this seperation. Both buffs work for different people. Dancer buffs for combat types that just need more hitpoints. Music buffs for people that actually use mind points ( riflemen, medics, image designers... ). If the dancers buff is more sought where you play, that's probably because 90% of the SWG population is some variation of Pistoleer/BH/CH. That might change when Eyeshot is moved to Master BH.

Agreed.

And please devs... make sure the format string actually is send through the formatter. I don't want to see another message to display a "%TT" on screen.
Healing Hands,
Don't need to really work that hard. I have a boost timer macromade very simply:
/tell danirent 5 min
/pause 120
/tell danirent 3min
/pause 120
/tell danirent 1 min
/pause 60
/tell danirent BOOSTED!
