My question though is, does anybody (Dev, combat player, suit, crafter, etc) really have any reason to care about these professions anymore?

They could take out these professions right now, and the servers would go on without any real problems, whatsoever. If an entire server had no entertainers whatsoever, it would have gameplay that was as good as any other server.

We are, for the most part, "quarantined" from the playerbase as a whole (for lack of a better term). The developers need not even bother working on us at all in any timeframe we would consider reasonable, because we no longer affect any major subsystem on the servers anymore of any crucial importance.

If the developers were to come here and say, "we thought about giving you more of a role, but we feel that you are fine the way you are," what would we do then?

That's the problem, isn't it? What reason is there left to support the entertainer professions? Apart from not having any impact on the rest of the game anymore, we don't even have the weight of numbers to force the Devs to pay us attentions. If all entertainers that are still left quit the game tomorrow, I'm sure SOE would see this as an acceptablepayoff to not having to put development time into us anymore.
We're only relying on the Dev's good will right now, and at least to me that means we aren't on veryfirm ground (in fact I'd say we're in the middle of a swamp, and already have to water come up to our chins)

With no value to the game mechanics we are now not worth the effort to maintain. There is no reason to worry about fixing any of ourmany remaing bugs as they have no effect on the larger game. We have effectivly been made totally expendable and in the business world there is no longer any reason they should expend resources to support us. I recommend preparing your goodbyes now, we won't be around much longer.

Forced interaction with entertainers = Bad

Forced interaction while hunting so you can get reasonable xp = Good

Get it now?

Wow. What a great summary.

I am going to bookmark this and quote it back every time this topic comes up.

I could cry this morning.

Part of the problem with the way of the universe is all these other games they are lifting ideas from have either tradeskill classes etc as a separate thing to combat or you can have multiple characters per server. Here we are tied in to one, and if thatsshafted we are paying for well nothing. Ive got two accounts, one is CH ha ha, and one is an Musician, Dancer, Entertainer. Best thing I can see is that they allow us at least two characters per account per server. We can keep our luxury professions which they are now, just show and no use and be able to at least do something else. Or they make crafting and entertaining etc separate to combat so we can do both with one character. To me that seems a fair solution. I want to keep my Entertainers. I enjoy them. But Im that close to suspending both my accounts sigh, I dont want to, but Im paying out money for something I cant really play right now.

As a politician... I feel your pain. Really. I hope for all your sakes the ent profs don't get abandoned and turned into an ignored 0 SP prof that people pick up for joke titles... like mine. It would be a shame to totally scrap the other profs that are actually unique aspects of this game...

It is a shame they did what they did. While I did want an improved combat system, I was stunned when it arrived. Now, medcens are bare, cantinas are no where near the hub of activity they once were, starports used to be packed, especially CNET.

It seems like they killed the social aspect of the game. I have no idea why.

Hey, it's not like they had any bugs to fix! "You start watching Warryrr. You stop watching Warryrr because he is too far away." Nope, no serious bugs whatsoever.

Don't get me started on that.

Anything new for us is useless if nobody can watch us or listen to us.

Well, since nobody needs to watch or listen to us anymore (BF is gone after all), they can ignore this bug forever now too. People who can't get BF healed are going to (and have been doing it) scream because of the "can't watch" bug. But if they just can't get an insp buff? Oh well... no biggie. So now the devs get to ignore one more bug because they made the reason anyone would care about it, go away.

Petition to give Jedi inspiration buff ability!

...wait, what kind of dumb idea is that?!

Hell, give it a few weeks and I'm sure we'll see some Jedi pop-locking for his fellow Knights. I totally agree that Sony now has it in their head that Jedi should dominate this game, might as well make every other profession useless and call this "Knights of the Not Quite Made New Republic"...

I've always been a fan of Entertainers, I've always liked them and liked what they did for the game... but what Sony has done tothem is a total travesty, and I'm very fed up with how they are treating every other faithful class in the game.

Sorry, Sony, just because Entertainer doesn't take 3 years to master (we all know you love the paying Jedi) doesn't mean you should make them useless towards the progression of the game.

Remember, kids, this isn't our game, it's their's. And they are going to manipulate itso they can make the most profit out of it, and right now, Jedi is the lure of this game. Who wants to play a fruity Rodian who can tumble like no other? They all want to be a dark skinned Zabrak with a dual edged wiffle bat...

Simply put, if you aren't a Jedi,Sony doesn't like you!

The reason why they got rid of BF is because they obviously do NOT care about anyone but the players who will invest a portion of their lives into making some elite god class.

I was expecting ghost-town cantinas this morning when i logged on.

Mos Eisley Cantina, usually has about 20-30 players online at that time, wander in, 3 AFK musicians and 2 AFK dancers.

Maybe it'll pick up i thought, so i start playing....1 hour later one person has entered the cantina, 2 AFKers have gone LD.

4 players then enter, followed by 2 more...here we go i thought....they all ran straight past us to the pilot trainer.

3 hours later, 2 AFK dancers, 2 AFK musicians, myself and one lvl 5 marksman getting his insp buff. Not a single conversed word!

Sod this i thought so i ventured to a player-run cantina i frequent, about 20 players in there from a guild hunting party that was using the towns hunting terminals. 2 hours later they are still here, we have amassed a full entertainer group and are having a mad time

Whats the point of this post? No point except to say the profession can still be fun regardless of the questionable changes.

SOE's new policy is if its broke, get rid of it. All they seem to care about is Jedi.

We been watching the decline of the entertainment professions for two years, is this really a surprise???

We have a better shot at all getting respec'ed to Jedi then getting this profession viable again. Most of us are only here because of friends in game now and as they leave, we will probably shut off the lights also.

My optomism level has been forced to ground zero...

Agree with the previous poster. I just got back from a3 weekvacation, the whole time I was looking forward to how much I'd enjoy the game after that long. Haven't even logged into it yet..... nothing really new around, and I just don't feel like it, for some reason. Don't care for the entertainer changes, though new stuff is always good. The veteran rewards are, as far as I'm concerned, a waste (I like holograms, in fact they are probably my favorite kind of furniture, but I don't want to have an entire house full of them, I want a few that are unique...)

The only promising thing I see in the near future is the new CH stuff, I might get on Test Center to look at that. But otherwise..... meh. I'll stick with it, but it looks pretty dim.
