Thread: Lighting the Cantinas

Because its a bar. A "wretched hive of scum and villany"At least all the NPC cantinas ..most of the player city cantinas seem to be well lighted.
Pretty accurate. Thisis an MMORPG after all, emphasis on role playing. In the first star wars on Tatooine the cantina you see Luke meet Han and Chewbacca isn't exactly well-lit for entertainment. But one of the more useful locales for shady goings-on ![]()
But you are right. Even the auditoriums in the cities are very poorly lit, and area that would definitely need more of it. However personal lights are not always enough. For about 4 months I ran around assuming I was black without patterns (wookiee). Until I was in the fields somewhere in daylight (rare occurence =P). Guess that IDer that swore was just practicing without changing anything was color blind.

This thread was cross-posted. Someone elsewhere suggested turning on your personal light to see your own colors, but said that wouldn't help other people.
However, I think it's probably common practice to have the personal light on when in a cantina, so most people will be able to use their own lights to see you, so I'm sure your bright color choices haven't gone unnoticed.

Yes, and here it is again since thisthread was accidently double posted:
Hmm...well when I see cantinas in the movies, they are all pretty dark. When I walk into a bar or nightclub here in the real world, they are generally pretty dark. I think it would ruin some of the immersion of the game, and since we seem to have very little of that as it is, I'd rather keep what little we have. If you would like your clothes to be brighter, I would suggest adjusting your brightness, contrast, and gamma settings, or turning on your personal light.

PC cantinas do not have choice... they are flooded with lights. I wish mine was much darker, that would make it so much easier to set the mood of the place by placing lights in the right places.
