I want two big colored fires to start in front of the Cantina for all to know that a performance is happening in there ! 8D
If not two big fires, some visual sign telling that there is a performance going on. Would catch potential customers' eye =)
Definetly something über great
Would not only be loved by peeps in need of some buffing, but would be so much profitable to us when in search for a public! (Could even bring people in player cantina's!! Yahooo!) I -love- that idea
Some 2 or 3 mouse clicks every one or two hours would be just good to prevent bots getting too much benefits from such a feature, good point.
But even without that, the /find feature would have two main advantages:
- Player entertainers could easily be found by customers even in player cantina's
- Bots wouldnt be obligated to yell their s*** in public cantina's. (maybe Im too naïve on this

I guess the Sun/Moon thing is OK (would be better if it worked for player cantina's though), but making use of the /find command to help players get to the nearest Registered entertainer may be useful, i.e./find Entertainer would create a waypoint to the nearest registered Dancer or Musician (Used to get your BF healed)/find Dancer/find Musician These two may allow players to find buffs of the type they require more easlily.

The /register process should involve direct input from the player. Options like:Are you providing enhancements at this location? Yes/No.If Yes, what type? Dance/MusicAre you willing to relocate to another location if your services are needed elsewhere? Yes/No.Then a message:***Thank you, you are now registered at this location, and a Talent Agent will let others know you're performing here.***That's how I've always dreamt /register would work.

Many good ideas here. I especially liked Warryyr's ideas.
One thing, I have tried to Register in hotels and gotten the message that "this location does not support registration." I have also gotten this message in the cantinas/taverns in the outposts on certain planets. I definately think that we should be able to register in any NPC structure where we can heal.

Excellent suggestions. Here's my two bits:
I like the idea of conversing with the proprietor to register. When you do, you also give him/her some added information, like a short message. Ex: 'Offering 125% Music buffs and 100% Dance buffs all day', or 'Giving free ID services for healing experience for the next two hours', or 'Not buffing today, just healing wounds and fatigue'.
This way, we can let the customer know what services he/she can expect to find. That way, they can see what they're looking for, and don't rush out to the nearest Musician or Dancer only to find that they can't get everything they want. Or they can see that this one over here is offering both buffs, and this one is offering ID, etc.
I also think there needs to be a difference between /find and /who. /Find Musician should give you a waypoint to the nearest registered Musician, much how it works for other things. /Who should give you all the goodies.
/Who Musician should give you a list of all the Musicians on your current planet (/who all should giveall the registeredon EVERY planet) and their added message. For example, JoeSchmoe is done fighting for the day, has some wounds and fatigue, so he types /who Musician. He gets the list of registered Musicians in his spatial box and sees Mo'Ste Elosk - LIVE PERFORMER, free 114% Music buffs, songs, and bad jokes all day long. For some reason that's what he wants, and clicks my name which gives him an active waypoint to my location.
I also feel that any AFK time and a 30 min period of keyboard/mouse inactivity should cancel the registration, or you should have to refresh your registration every hour or so in a non-macroable interface.
Keep the good ideas comin'.

Seeing some of the other sugestions have given me another idea, that is kind of based on some of the others, on the outside of every cantina there would be a "Now Playing" sign or poster. If a player puts their mouse over it they would get a list of all registered players in the building. If that would be annoying maybe there should be a radial option on it to read a list of registered entertainers.
This would probably not be ammazingly useful for finding Entertainers from range, but would be a nice touch, although if the register command was unmacroable then it would give a nice list of all the Live elite Entertainer professionals.

I like this idea, because when I'm on my alt and looking for entertainment, walking into a cantina can be a daunting challenge in order to weed out the live Entertainers.
A display like this right before you enter would tell you who's live (pretty much, or at least who's been live in the past hour or two). Now I can choose my live Entertainer from the list and get buffed. No more standing around in the cantina, waiting for someone to /greet me or respond to my /nod.
A variation of this "Now Playing" sign/poster could be a player-crafted item that lets you change the name of it (like backpacks) so that you could advertise your performances. Then, if you're not there, your poster tells people when you'll be playing.
