I just had to bring this up since I read a bit ago that afk entertainers don't have to worry about dying, like an afk combater does. Well, not entirely true!

I had just come back from running faction missions and had a TEF. Now, granted that doesn't last very long, so I had really no worries, I thought, as I set my macro to start playing and go use the bathroom. Two minutes afk (hardly an offense, honestly to even the most stubborn ATK'er) and an imp shot me down. I would have been killed even if I were there, of course, since a mandovial doesn't defend very well against a one shot kill from a BH imp murderer in the tavern. His response to my outrage (my personal and character feeling is no matter the faction of an entertainer or medic, they should never ever be killed if they are in the pursuit of their profession.) was that he thought I had attacked him. Oh well, I just thought I would share that and hopefully give a chuckle or two.

My friend saw this happen after an AFKer got turned overt by some stormtroopers. Getting blasted by imps and the person was just entertaining away.

Anytime you join a faction, even covert, you are joining consensual PvP. There are several ways to get turned Overt or get a TEF and make you eligable to be attacked.

If you are a member of a faction and do AFK anything, then it is a legitemate tactic to take you out if the opportunity presents itself. Why would any rebel allow an OVERT or TEFed Imperial entertainer continue to heal members of the opposing faction. By killing the overt entertainer, you are limiting the war fighting capabily of the enemy.

Plus how do I know you did not just throw up an AFK flag as soon as you knew I was comming and plan to drop the AFK flag the second I leave. Remember joining a faction joins PvP.

To answer the TEF part about how I got inside, it was before the TEF patch changing that.

This is a reasonable and well spoken argument that I have no doubt many would agree with, andit is certainly an OPINION that you are entitled to. My opinion states that just because something doesn't break the rules its a legitimate method to do something. The reason why anyone would allow a medic or entertainer of the opposite faction to heal is because of something called decency and honor. Not all characters have it, of course (and that is not a reflection of the player, but the character being played). While this does not apply to a game, there is something called the Geneva Convention that dictates certain rules of engagement and blah blah blah. In that, all medical personnel (entertainers would fall in this category) are non targets, unless they take up arms. It is also expected that all medical personnel will administer to those of the opposite side. Wounded are wounded, and it is the oath of a pursuant of medicine to aid those in need of it. As a player, I personally believe that the members of the rebellion would follow such a dictate, and most medical folks would agree that they should administer to any who need aid. In the real world, killing such a person is a war crime and murder. As there are no in game factional rules of engagement or articles of war, players are left to there opinions and can of course do whatever they want. I always /tell any imperial who kills me honorably (not the same as fairly) and congratulate them for a job well done. I also have an imperial alt who believes in the structure of the empire but still will not go against what I believe to be honorable. But hey, thats just me.

Well, as for me. I kill Overts, and TEF's on site. Reguardless the reasons they got that TEF, or if they are afk, or dancing, or healing. Ibelieve if your not interested in aid your side, dont choose one. The fact that you are a Rebel is hurting my side due to your numbers.

Like you said, you were doing faction missions. Reports came in of murdered Imperials, an Imperial Bounty Hunter was sent to look into the matter, he walked into the Cantina and youfit the descripition of the attacker, so he took you out. Bounty servered.

what i love to sometimes do is look like easy prey to some noob in mos espa or something and do some music healing. then i have a combat macro that stops music and whips out my power hammer to bash some heads in. i made the macro just in case at first, but it was fun after that. so just be careful, not all entertainers are easy prey

Even in war there are people on each side who are offlimits!!

you ever hear of the red cross anyone ever cought attacking them in in wartime would be sought after for war crimes by the rest of the world after so the argument that if you join a side you should be killed is bull**edit** come kill a priest of a pastor next? I mean they are on a side right?

panzys way out kill an afk entertainer and then feel glory for doing so you = loser

get a life take on live combat or revel in your inadequacys and stoop to killing defenseless people either way you are a pu$$y

It is funny when the only way some people can act tough is to beat on entertainers.

Eesh. While I certainly agree with my own opinion and have my certain views, my anecdote was purely to elicit a chuckle, not create a debate, orgarner excuses for me or the one who killed me. Asa roleplayer, I support versimilitude...ie. imperials are evil, murderous, cowardly, and unsportsman as a general rule (not a constant), so it is fitting that an imperial should slay me down without concern for ethics, morals, or rules of war. In fact, I would even agree that it is an imperialistic perogative to execute such individuals blithely. Since it is fitting for an imperial to be dishonorable....I see no need to argue that they are justified for being unethical. Since it is fitting for a Rebel to be honorable, I see no need to argue that it is justified to be outraged by such an action. As for actual argument itself....there IS no argument since the side I support is an actual law, therefore by default described as right. To believe going against said law is ok because it makes things easier, or more fun, is by default wrong. You can just as effectively argue that you shouldn't have to stop at a red light because you can see that there is no traffic coming.
