Yep. In fact, I couldn't test this dev response myself because I don't get XP. The Dancer and Entertainer correspondents say you do get XP for buffing, but not a lot. Even if double-XP is an issue, why not just eliminate XP for self-buffs? Wouldn't seem like a colossal coding challenge to me. /puzzle

Their feeble minds are still stuck in the mindset of that speedbuff macro that they left in the game for far too long.

They need to get over it. Their programming errors are no reason to answer honest Musician questions with "you'd get more XP, not gonna happen." What's next, nerf our xp gain like they did to ID's?

No one's gonna master Musician in 2 hours by buffing themselves - hell, we can't rebuff, and our stupid buffs last 2 hours anyways! Who cares about an extra, say, 50xp in 2 hours? So freakin' what!!!!

I'm also puzzled because the initial explanation on self-buffs, which I received many moons ago, was that there were technical obstacles: you can't /listen and /stoplisten to yourself, and that's the buff trigger. I expected them to say that here. But they didn't. Instead, we got this explanation about XP. If that's the only obstacle, it strikes me as a minor one. As you say, we're not talking a lot of XP for 5 minutes of buffing. Beyond that, I can't imagine it's a huge coding challenge to deny us XP for buffing ourselves.

Well, I'm maxed out on xp, so i get no musician xp whatsoever.

Here would be the jist ofa "backend" approach to this, for self-buffing (though I've no idea what nightmare of coding they really need deal with):

IF musician_self_buff <---- maybe if %TT = self?

Save xp_gained In current_xp_amount

Set xp_gained to max_xp <--- prevents xp from being gained from a self buff

ENDIF

(wait until self-buff is over)

IF self_buff_over

Restore xp_gained to current_xp_amount

ENDIF

Pseudocode

it just goes to show that the devs could give a flying **** about the entertainer classes. Hell they would stop helping crafters and put more time in combatants if they could but they know they cant since crafters make the stuff for the combatants. They have no interest in *wasting* their valuable time on us. That would take away from combatants or JTL de elopment

After this stellar display by the Devs of ignorance to our profession, and our concerns (because, from what I gather from NewJedi's post, they ignored the Musician correspondent's efforts to clarify things) I'm inclined to agree.

Why are we getting ignored, so a bunch of l337 h4xx0rs can fly around planets in their uber TIE fighters? Is JTL a Publish? NOOOO....it's another freakin' game, for god's sake. Not acceptable to have our concerns/issues brushed off because "we're working on JTL right now." That's BS. I pay my money for SWG!

I think we should do something.

For our next question, we should ask something like............ " ? " or " Why is it that developers assigned to us are now off working on another game THAT WE DON'T EVEN CURRENTLY HAVE A PART IN? "

Of course this is pretty risky... we might not want to make them resent us....

the saddest thing is, this code already exsists. You don't get xp for healing your own mind wounds and bf, how hard could it possibly be to take that code, and apply it to buffs?

Ex-Muscian due to no self-buffs.
