I've been thinking I might end up joining you folks here in the entertainer world...

I've always been a dabbler since I've never enjoyed hard combat. Not that I didn't like being able to defend myself, but I always enjoyed making a true character rather than "just an avatar". I was always things like a Ranger or Droid Engineer for my second profession because I like developing my character's personality and two combat professions seemed very... well... one dimentional. It somewhat appears I've been given an choice by SOE, however... Go two combat professions or forever be gimped in combat... or the alternative. Ditch combat because dabbling is a somewhat difficult option now.

I've always admired the musicians, dancers, and IDs of SWG. I've often thought of being one myself. You people are what really make this game cool... and no amount of glowstick or scattergun toting crybabies will ever be able to convince me differently. Having been a ranger I understand what it means to be devoted to your cause, and you people are truely a devoted lot.

So considering most of the aspects of the game seem to make me want tosing a sad songon most days... I'm considering rerolling and grabbing an instrument. Got room for one more?

Speaking of new ones joining the ranks, I agree. Its a fun prof, not so much for its usefulness as its sociality. Entertainers rock!

As far as RP goes, yes being an entertainer rocks. Fact iswe create our own content which is a really a good thing considering the Dev's performance. Our creativity is in our lyrics and performanace. Of course I would be remiss to not mention the down side. The biggest downside for me personally is the dispair I feel actually rewarding SOE on a monthly basis with my subscription fees. I dispise the fact that any experience I blow through every performance isn't as valuable as some Jedi grinder to warrant not getting a second slot. Its discrimination pure and simple and a lousy way to run a game. Also we give up having a combat level for our craft which excludes us from most of the other content in this game and makes it a live and death situation just leaving the safety of a city. Again lousy game decisions. If you can look past the discrimination we face being entertainers, then its almost enough... I say almost because its really the friends in game that keep us thereas our whole band watches the horizon for the first worthy ship that passes by. As of yet, no other game gives us a way to express our creativity in the setting SWG does. To be able to create an entertainment venue like in SWG is pretty cool but playing in them isn't a daily thing, more likely once or twice a week so you will be hard pressed to find things to keep you busy in between.

Make the switch! Really. You'll be insanely happy that you did. My first week in SWG I spent as a medic, and let me tell you, switching into Entertainer was the best thing SWG-related I ever did, and here I am, what, two years later? Haven't turned back.

The Entertainer community is definitely the community with the best personality. We've weathered so much, and the kind of person who would be an entertainer in the first place is the kind of person you know you want to get to know. There's always someone willing to help you...as long as you don't go AFK.

Just don't expect to be making a huge amount of money from just being a musician by itself. ESPECIALLY if you just sit around in the cantina AFK or silent. Dropping the profession because you're not making any money just shows that either you're doing something very wrong or the profession ir wrong for you.

Good luck with entertaining.
