Thread: New Experience Gain Methods
First of all, there's a new experience type, called "Entertainer xp" - this xp is what's needed to learn line 4 of Entertainer, and lines 1 and 4 of Musician. Musician xp sticks around and is what's needed for line 2 of Entertainer and lines 2 and 3 of Musician. Entertainer Healing xp is completely gone.
There are (currently on TC) 4 ways to gain Musician-related xp.
- Musician xp is still gained from playing music while performing flourishes as it was gained before Publish 20. So, if you do one flourish, then on the subsequent "tick" you will gain some Musician xp. If you do two or more flourishes before the tick, you will gain approximately double that amount of Musician xp. Once you trigger the gain of Musician xp in this way, you continue to gain Musician xp at a decaying rate if you continue playing music, even without flourishing (e.g. 10 xp, 8 xp, 6 xp, 4 xp, 2 xp).
- Musician xp is still gained by crafting instruments. This is a relatively small amount of xp.
- Entertainer xp is gained from playing music while performing flourishes, similar but not exactly the same as the way you gain Musician xp from doing so. The amount of Entertainer xp gained after a tick in which you do any flourish is half of the amount of Musician xp granted for that tick. If you do not do a flourish during a tick, you do not gain Entertainer xp for that tick, even if you flourished during the previous tick. This differs from the decaying rate of Musician xp gained after doing a flourish.
- Musician xp is gained when someone in your group is playing music and in the process of inspiring someone (including if you are the one inspiring). This is similar to how Entertainer Healing xp used to be granted to the group when someone was inspiring before Publish 20. Note that the kind of xp granted from an inspiration depends on the action of the entertainer doing the inspiring, so if the inspiring entertainer is dancing, Dance xp will be granted to the group (even if you are currently playing music).
It should also be noted that the amounts of xp granted for playing music and flourishing have been increased. See my next post for details.
Question, what willwe need to convert or use to learn the Western song. Will it be 400,000 of Musician XP or 400,000 of Entertainment XP?

My banked Ent Healing xp turned to Entertainer xp - I also was left with an "Entertainer Healing: +0" in the "My Experience" box, but I've reported that as a bug too.

I haven't been able to test it, but I would suspect it hasn't changed, and will still be 400,000 Musician xp.

Well, the same method is the way to get the most xp on live right now. Since, however, you mention dancing, I should point out that two flourishes per tick is specific to Musician - for Dancers to gain the most xp, you need only flourish once within each 10 second tick.
Really? I just assumed it was the same time/flourish ratio for both professions...
Dance flourish annimations last longer than the music phrases. Music phrases time out to 5 seconds almost exactly. Dance flos are sometimes shorter than 5 seconds, but also are occasionally 10 full seconds.
Also, music flos stack (up to 5 in a 10 second period) but dance flos do not. You can punch 5 flos in 10 seconds for music and the 3 not played are sequensed up for later playing. This can be done every 10 seconds ad infinitum. All flos sequensed in this method will play out in order.....ONLY for music tho.

Seriously, it looks like entertainer xp is paying out what dance/music xp used to, and dance/music xp is paying about double. And not because of double xp, either.
(BTW, music phrases range from 3-5 seconds, depending on song. The longest dance flourish, for comparison, is over 20 seconds. Some dance flourishes can be as short as 3-5 though.)

Hehe - I know how to do a number crunch, I've just generally avoided doing it cause it's a bunch of work, and there were others who were willing to do it
....and he beat me to the crunch too.
I don't mind really......that can be really long and tedious.

Oh and the XP levels appear to be higher than the old music/dance levels. SW1 used to be 2/4 so the 3/7 of Entertainer XP is a welcome change.
