Thread: NPC band mates... =)

Has anyone thought about the concept of musicians having an option to get a NPC bandmate to jam with. perhaps you could cash in music xp for them and be limited to a certain amount depending on skill level. I mean how cool would it be to have 1 or more bith dudes jamming with ya? 8) You could maybe equip, nameand dress them just like vendors and they would play whatever song you played. Im sure this has been discussed previously but the idea just popped into my head this evening while jamming out in my cantina for a small crowd. They wouldnt need to give any sort of bonus what-so-ever, just pure asthetic appeal. =) Now THAT'S something i wouldn't mind using my saved up XP for. They could even require a payment of some sorts or force you to split yer tips with them hehehe (okay maybe the forced tip split is a bit much!) 
Any thoughts folks?

First off, I would have loved to be a Bith or even a Kitonak at player creation. But I can live with being Twi. There's just something about the lekku 
I like the idea, but I can't see them doing this. Even though there are NPC pets in the form of faction troops, I doubt they'll give us anything more in this line since we have our Entertainer Droids.

OK so no NPC mates, how about we use XP to buy the ability to pull more than one droid. Can't an Imp with high enough rank have a small team of storm troopers? Then I wouldn't have to ask all the dancers to use one of my playback droids to fill my band out beyond two people.

Yeah, we kicked it around a bit before. It is still a great idea to me. I think some folks had mentioned NPC Bandmates as a sort of Musician / Dancer Faction type pet.
The idea didn't take hold and was forgot about. Nice to see the idea resurface as it would be just awesome to help flesh out smaller bands, or even the solo performers in remote places could actually put on a pretty nice show.
To add to the idea, the "pet" can only use an instrument that you are certified in ( to disallow being able to play instruments, even if thru the pet, that you can not personally play) and when you "release" the pet, the instrument goes poof. That way you have to continue building or buying instruments to give the "pets" to play. That would help a bit with the instrument economy ( Which currently is ziltch
).

Yes, but you can only have one out at a time. Plus they just sit there. No wobbling or bouncing around or anything. However the image of a heavy lifter droid bouncing around in a cramped cantina is beginning to scare me...

Hand droids out to your dancer friends. They can group them and your band flourishes will drive them just fine. I often have two out, just don't forget to get them back before the ladies log .

That's what patrol was built for.
My favorite thing to do, set a patrol point, take a tiny step, set another patrol point, and watch my R3 turn side to side as he boogies to the music.

I think your missing the point lyte foot. The visual aspect of NPC Bith band pets, along with RP immersion is what i think would be cool, not just having different flourishes added via a bot to the song i may be playing. Besides they still need to make cool entertainer type droid chasis. 8)

I understood Skuzz, I was just giving you an alternative for the present. Even if the devs said they would add this new pet we wouldn't see it till 2005 or beyond.
