Hmm, actually those SWG players reading the forums (and the profession forums in particular) are rather a minority. Posting recruitment calls here is well and good, but actively seeking them out in the various cantinas in your galaxy would probably yield better results in the long run.
I'm in a band on Chimaera (Nebula), and that's how I met most of my band-mates - even long after making Master Musician I'd visit places like Bestine and Theed (but never Coronet! ), get into the groups there and strike up conversations with the non-afk'ers. I met quite a few dedicated entertainers that way, some of which now make up the core of Nebula (although in all honesty it has to be said that the band didn't really take off until someone else who wanted to form a band sought me out in mostly the same way). And also, that will at least give you an idea ofwhat kind ofperson they are before you ask them into your band.

Above all, entertainer is (in an ideal world) a socializing profession, so you should be able to find a true entertainer by doing just that. If my experiences on Chimaera are any indication, those who are not in this for the grind will jump on the chance to play in an actual organized band, if you only show them how cool that could be (because many are not aware that it's even possible)

Good luck, I hope you'll find performers for your band, no matter which way you go about it

This seems to be a fruitless endeavor. This is the upteenth time I've posted my band recruiting message and I get absolutely nothing back, heck not even from cross server.

I'm in dire need of musicians for my band on Corbantis, I can't stress enough that its a real fun thing to be a part of and its probably the best money a musician can make. So far no one has quit the band (save for 1 guy who was secretly hologrinding and managed to hide it from me). No one has quit because they all enjoy it alot. Only problem is they've all had one issue or another pop up in real life and have had to go inactive. So that leaves me needing active band-members.

So if you are interested.... even remotely interested, contact me please! I'm really getting desperate here! I have clients who've heard about the band and bookings are lining up and I really hate having to wind up appearing at their event alone. I'd like to be able to guarantee my clients at least a band of 5 which is a basic minimum band.

Here is all the general info from my previous postings:

Once again Jon-Ari's Rhythm Squadron, Rogue Squadron's Premiere guild band, is looking for new members!

We operate out of Sanctuary City, Dantooine and we provide the bestentertainment to the entire server! We perform at weddings, parties, special events, formal guild functions and more! Our clientel to date have enjoyed having us, and the band members to date have enjoyed playing in the band. In fact 95% of the band members still retain their full Masters in Entertainer and Musician today, however Real Life has called in one way or another and they are no longer able to continue being in Galaxies for the time being.

So I am looking for New members to join our ranks! Our requirements are simple. I'm looking for professional grade musicians, who enjoy their profession and like to have fun with it. Master Entertainer and Master Musician are required so that all members are qualified to play all instruments and songs for any performance we have. No Faction affiliation is required, HOWEVER, Rebels are welcome since Rogue squadron is a rebel guild.

You will not be disappointed! All members who have performed with the band in the past love it a lot, and I know you'll love it as well! I know the entertainment professions are fading in popularity on the server, so help me preserve one last stronghold against the decay in Rhythm Squadron!

Sanctuary City is a great place to live! The citizens are friendly and will try to help in any way possible, including providing for any essential needs you may have (house, vehicle, etc.).

Also, now the band will have its own escort and protection! Sean-Ari GreCa't, my Twin Brother character on Corbantis is taking up heavy duty combat professions and will be on hand to protect the band during any performances that may be in possible hostile environments. I want to make sure now especially with the increasing troubles in cantinas and so forth with Imperials do not hinder our efforts to entertain!

So don't delay! Send me an in game tell or email if your interested in becoming part of our awesome band!

I look forward to having you in the group!

Actually I get about the same results here as I do in game.

Only there its crowded with afk hologrinders.

I figure cover both grounds by posting here and recruiting in game helps get the name out and hopefully spread by word of mouth, so that the people out there who would be interested in joining but I some how seem to miss in game or don't check these forums will find out from someone who does.

Yeah, I feel your pain... The hologrinders outnumber the real entertainers by quite a margin, I agree. But whileI can't talk about your server, on Chimaera the dedicated entertainers are there, if sometimes well hidden.

In my experience, another way to find members for your band, if you already have a working band that is, is to be highly visible - don't just wait for people to hire you (while that's fine, it won't help much with recruiting IMO, because at many of those events your audience will usually be somewhat limited, say the members of a specific PA or player city), but go out on the streets and perform there. We're playing regularly in front of Theed and Bestine starports just for the fun of it and draw large crowds there every time (/plug This friday we'll be in Theed /endplug). It's things like this that get you noticed, and chances are you'll get requests by passing entertainers who want to join you. And also, that usually brings in more money from random tips than most paid gigs

You mentioned it yourself - word of mouth goes a long way...

Sorry, my friend, I'm already spread over about four servers now, and Corbantis isn't one of them. And yeah, my guild- and city-recruiting posts on these boards never seem to produce much in the way of results.

But while we're at it, we might as well ask around: how does everyone recruit new members for their bands? Because we know there are quite a few bands around from the sticky thread on top of this forum - I've outlined a few of the ways I found new bandmates above, but how doyou guys and gals do it (or try to do it), and with what results?

Well I have4 different methods I imply to try to find new band members:

1. Post recruitment ads on forums

2. Tour NPC Cantinas (Theed, Coronet, Anchorhead)on busy nights (usually weekends) looking for unguilded, non-hologrinding, non-afk entertainers

3. Continue to nag Musicians I'm already aware of to join the band .... (well not constantly but I bring it up once in a while)

4. Ask clients I perform for to spread word of my recruiting and tell any interested individuals about the experience they had being entertained by the band.

So far I'm getting no results whatsoever because most of the musicians I come across are already entrenched in a guild already and do not wish to leave.

One of my base requirements is that potential bandmembers must join Rogue Squadron to be in the band, for then they will bear the guild sig RS which also nicely coincides with the bands initials Rhythm Squadron.

I don't know how many times I keep sayin it though to existing musicians, they would have a blast if they joined my band. I even offer them a trial period to see if they enjoy it, cause I know if you experience performing with this band, you'll love it.

But right now there just seems to be no fresh talent out there right now save for hologrinders and I do not wish to accept any of them cause they will not remain in the band past when they master Musician or Dancer, and the band prides itself on having an elite troop ofentertainers who are either musicians who holdMaster Entertainer/Master Musicianor Master Dancers. Reason for those requirements is so that the customers will have the max variety of music and dancing to see and hear. Thus getting the best entertainment possible, and thats what I sell: the best entertainment on corbantis. Now granted I can do a player envent all by myself and wow them because I love performing for people. But its even more cool to have a basic band of 5 performing, or even better a larger band. That to me would just be a much better perofmance to me.

My ideal band if it ever happens would've been to have a diverse band of about 15-18 Musicians and 2-5 Dancers. All species, both genders. But best I could manage was a few months ago when I had 6 Musicians (all male humans and Zabraks) and 2 dancers (female Twileks).

Right now I'm having to do a lot of the events Rhythm Squadron is booked for solo cause the 1 or 2 Musicians that are still active members have very scketchy schedules in RL. Real life has really put a crunch on my band. 1 member went inactive due to serious illness, and the rest went inactive due to work, or other events popping up in Real life. I still consider them in the band because I'm hoping they become active again. If you join Rhythm Squadron, you're in until you tell me you quit. So far no one has, people have gone inactive, but no one has quit.

I just hope the summer brings new members cause I know it has to be frustrating for my clients to hire my band and wind up with just me. Granted Real Life is more important so they are understanding, but I know its got to be disappointing.

Well here are a few things to explain out some discrepancies

I run my band like a business, the more members I have the better chance I have to fully staff an event booking. But I'm sure we'd have some all band member jam sessions for the fun of it =). Cause even though 5 Masters can cover all the sounds with 5 instruments, the more you have of each instrument playing, the more you can go into big scale composing with the songs currently in the game by arranging and cooridnating flourishes.

I always look for muscians who are unguilded when I'm looking in the cantina, if they already have a PA sig on them, I normally don't bother them at all. Now I have had some non entertainers join Rogue Squadron coming from other guilds because they were unhappy with the guild they were in, so now I do at least check.

My primary candidates though are those few stray entertainers who do not have a guild, because they would be able to benefit from it the most.

But the key is my band doesn't just perform for the city we live in, all the members of my band don't even live in the city we are based out of, we are available to the whole server. I have one member who actually is imperial, who lives in a city on Tatooine. He is one of a few who have remained living with the guilds/cities they became a part of and they simply joined Rogue Squadron to become a bandmember.

The band's name has some very good recognition now and that is continuing to grow. So having the initials with whatever their entertainer professions is above their name, does let people know. So its for a good reason bandmembers join the RS PA, so they can have more of a "fan" aspect to it.

The problem is none of this can be conveyed properly to anyone in any context, experiencing it is really the only way. Everyone who has tried out being in my band so far has loved it, and to date no one has quit the band.

Only reason there aren't any online is that Real Life seems to have it in for the members of my band. I've had several who've had to work more, a few who've encountered account problems and login problems with Galaxies, and 1 that I have a confirmed report of who has fallen to serious illness.

The members who are in the band and the portion of the online community that has experienced Rhythm Squadron has all loved it so far, I'm just tryin to keep a good thing goin. To do that I need to find more people somewhere, somehow.

I'm kinda putting a lot on the devs hoping that the upcoming entertainer revamp strikes new interest in the game public to generate new possible recruits. Whether the publish will generate that is unknown to me. At present it seems to be the best shot I have.

To be honest I can see how your requirement to have them join your guild might be a major handicap when recruiting (and from it's name I presume it's factionally aligned, which certainly turns off another sizeable percentage of unguilded potential bandmates. Although if I'm wrong on that assumption, ignore that comment ). People form friendships in their PA, they are part of a community, and you ask them to give that up. And even if being in a band is a great experience and lots of fun (no argument there), that is a lot to ask. Frankly, I wouldn't do it, and I love my profession a great deal...

And 15-18 musicians?? Whoa! Do you want to outnumber your audience??

Yep, once you get up to a half-dozen musicians or so, you pretty much have every part covered. I guess extra people can dance.

And yes, a PA requirement can be a big turn-off. I was really interested ina particular band on my server until I learned that they required joining a PA. I was already head of my own PA, so that was a non-starter for me.
