Thread: Questions and Results from Devs

Tiggs recently asked the correspondents to come up with 3 questions about our profession/community to have answered. Here are my questions and their results. Note that while Helios posted the results, the answering process for the correspondents was done by several devs.

  1. The CU has left the elite performer professions with no unique interdependent skill. A developer has told us that skills for the elite performer professions will be coming. Can we get any idea of when to expect these skills, and what, if anything, our community can do to help with them?
  2. Sorry, but we can't make any comments on scheduling.

  3. The CU change in maximum group size has hurt entertainers in aspects of performance, social play, and levelling. It has been said that this problem is being looked into. Can we get any idea of when to expect help for this problem, and what is being thought of to fix it?
  4. I hate to sound repetitive, but we're unable to make any promises on when future development of any feature might occur. We don't want to disappoint anyone when things don't work out as expected.

  5. With a long history of AFK making their environment unfun, and the recent problems that the Cu has brought to entertainers, many entertainers are losing or have lost hope in their profession becoming enjoyable enough to continue playing. An Entertainer Upgrade for 2005 was announced in the SWG newsletter. Are there still plans (and can you give any details) for an Entertainer Upgrade in 2005?
  6. See above.

Yeah.

Needless to say, I've asked for them to please answer the other parts of my questions (like what can we do to help the advanced features, what details can we have about the advanced abilities, what is in the works for fixing the group issue, what details can be given about the entertainer upgrade). While I don't really expect a followup to that, I'll definitely get any of that info out here if they do.

Wow.

I heard something similar from an airline: Sorry, but we're unable to make any promises about your safety or when you might arrive, if ever, at your destination. We don't want to disappoint you if things don't work out as expected.... You might think I jumped ship the moment I heard that, but seeing as it was the last flight for Christmas Eve, I decided to chance it.The captain'sslurred speech also worried me, but I made it safely, so ... umm... I have no clue where this story is going. I guess I thought I should say something more than just "wow" to these answers.

Wow, it surely must have cost them a lot of deliberation and sleepless nights to come up with these great answers.

Scip, if you'd be so kind as to convey my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Developers for all the great work they are doing on the behalf of this community and for the excellent and stellar way in which they continue to turn this game into a fun and star wars-y experience for all of their paying customers.

Oh, and while you're at it, kindly also tell them the following from me:

/rude

Thank you.

Absolute garbage... I think we have a new winner for the most obvious ctrl+c "answers" ever.

Next time they ask for questions, just ask them, "Why bother?"

Completely disappointed by this.

Let me add my "Wow" to this also.

Just as a side question, was the "we do not comment on scheduling" the answer to all questions from all Corrs, or were we just lucky. Was it just the entertainers who got those answers....the non-combat profs....everyone but Jedi?

Oh and Tiggs should say before she asks the questions "now you all know that we cannot speak about scheduling so don't ask any questions that have 'when' as a factor." I mean why did she bother.

Reading between the lines, I bet someone at SOE sent down a memo saying "don't anyone talk about schedules because the community will latch onto whatever we say, even with the 'schedules will change' disclaimers and they will scream if we don't make dates". Well either that or with the current push they are in to meet what is most likely contractually obligated release dates for a "Combat Upgrade" and "Ep3 Related Expansion" they've had it up to their eyeballs with "schedules".

Of course this could just bea backlash to the community reaction to "Soon (tm)".

If SOE wanted to keep us from latching onto the tiniest tidbits of info, they should flood us with information. If we were to see the process a little clearer we would be MUCH happier. How bout a REAL blog or journal from someone? I would say especially the silly things like "Tiggs was late again so it was her turn to buy donuts for the weekly strategic meeting" or some such. We don't even really need to know details, we just want to know that they are actually thinking about us. That can easily be done by simply communicating. This "3 question" round was just so typical of their complete lack of communication.

Thank you very much for putting forth those questions so well, Scipi. I hope you get better results from the follow-ups, as it is a little unfair in my opinion for them to totally ignore every facet of the questions.

Blixtev gives the Armorsmiths information like "We are working on a conversion of BH armor to being equippable," and Helios was a beacon of communication who, as a commando, I appreciated greatly. If Phideaux or someone similar ever brought us a glimmer of that level of directness, I would have faith in the future of Entertainers in SWG instead of despair.

Oh and when did the group size issue that the devs forgot to think through for entertainers become " future development of any feature " and not fixing something that the devs BROKE???

We, on the Ranger boards, also got "we cannot comment on scheduling" answer for two of three questions. One considering our Revamp, and another considering the /examine issue.

The only shed of light was that it "sounded" like they "might" be giving us more experimentation or more traps in our "revamp."

Being vague.... FTL.

Not even a simple "Yes, it's being looked into."

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The devs have no clue on what to do with us, so they figure if they do nothing, we'll finally give up and go away. That way they can focus their full attention on the combat profs and the ever-so-special CONTINUITY BREAKING Jedi.

I'm glad I came back for a month. It's good to remember why I left in the first place.

I love you guys, but this just further validates my decision to go for combat level 80 status.

as a former master ent/master musician, I'll continue to voice my opinion hereand give the current musicians my full support.

Maybe one day, they'll finally getting around to making this profession into something really grand, instead of just a really grand idea.

When you see just how pathetic their answers to simple questions are it's no surprise that the game is as screwed up as it is.
