Little column A, little column B.
I have done the entire cycle a total of 8 times (working on my 9th atm) and of them all I have only failed 1 performance (of 24). In that one I was just not given enough info. So its partly both.

Yeah, I don't know many who had much trouble with the Musician one. The Dancer one, though...woo, took me three tries on the final performance because all they gave me the first two was "do flourish 4."

I've always had good luck with the quests
. I've also seen a general feeling that the dancer quests have more failures than the musician quests - no hard evidence, but I've certainly read more reports of failure on dancer quests.

I think part of that was in that dancers use more action to flourish and spamming flos is a method of getting a better score.
Now its easy for either to spam the flos.

When I did the quests, I headed out to the Coronet SP to play...but that was back when we had waits for shuttles, so I don't know if that would work now.

Yeah, I did all my ent quest advertising standing next to a popular Doctor in the C'net starport. He and I talked and became friends, and eventually he made it a requirement that his buff customers /listen to me before he would buff them.

I did all the dancer and all the musician ones. That's 6 total. I never failed a single time.
I'm not sure if it was luck or I just hit on the right tactic, but I never saw the dance/music performances as hard. Getting 30 people to listen/watch without spamming for it in the starport, now THAT was hard...

I managed to get Western without a failure. First on Bloodfin to do it, however the dance I failed due to the audience not giving me enough info.

This quest is the "Theatre Manager" quest that can be started and worked on in any NPC theatre. Backstage (near the music and dance trainers) is an NPC call the "Theatre Manager". Speak to them and the series of missions begins. You can find NPC theatres by looking on your map (control v) and looking under the category of "guild hall" subcategory "theatre".
