Thread: TEST CENTRE too slow for entertainers

we have to have blue frogs for non combat professions, such as ent, dance, music NOW - there is no way in hell we are going to be able to level these profs and test them in the beta time frame. Now part of me knows it makes absolutely no difference what bugs we find because they will not get fixed anytime soon, so (as SOE refuse to issue detailed functionality and expected results - how do these idiots get jobs in IT???) this beta test is no such thing for us, its a voyage of discovery to see how our professions will work/not work in a months time.

It can be done, we just need to sacrifice our pride as ATK entertainers and pull out every cheap trick in the book. Non-stop AFK grinding, blowing up yachts over and over again to gain BF (currently the only reasonable way to gain EH xp, and it's still slow). We just gotta do what we gotta do to test our professions so we can but the devs with what little time we have left to give us some place in the game for our SP expendature. I'm already 0044 entertainer with enough dance xp for novice dancer when they put in the trainers (please not I was waiting on EH xp not dance xp for novice dancer...)

XP gain needs to be adjusted across the whole board. The devs are saying this...so...keep the faith

Best Im managing for Ent healing xp is averaging at about 1k an hour which equates to 25 hours for EH4

and all I hear is people screaming for the frogs to be fixed for healing and bf healing

/sigh

its was always bad but this is just silly

Musician xp is taking forever as well as nobody can make a better instrument than a fizz which along with maximum 8 group size is * insert rude word here*

Today is even worse than usual 4388 healing xp in 7 hours (call it 627/hour = almost 40 hours to achieve EH4)

But if we do it that way, we are not really properly testing our professions in the CU. I mean, the big part we need to test first and foremost is the XP progression (since there is nothing else to test, really. We're pretty pointless now), and "cheating" to get XP won't get that tested. Heck, considering the past actions of the SOE devs, they might just look at the "cheated" XP and say: "Working as intended".

On another note, I've almost mastered marksman on TC-5, I've been incapped over 20 times, killed more than 7. I have 2 points of battle fatigue to show for that, this is just pathetic...

Good post. This is a big problem with the game now in all professions. Too many people using tricks and cheep ways of gaining XP so the devs think everything is fine. It's like Jedi. Getting to Jedi is a pain in the you know what, but there areenough people who just used grenade grinding tricks or somethingthat now the Devs are like "Wow Jedi must be too easy, lets make it harder". but It only got harder for theaverage player. The power gamers will allways find the quickest way to do anything. The same will happen toentertainers. Enough people will use tricks and AFK grinding to give the devs the impression that theprofession is fine and the people who actually want to play their entertainer will takeforever toreach master.

You know, I'm a lot less worried about the devs thinking our grind progression is just fine, if not too fast. Because ultimately it doesn't matter. All that changes is the time to get skills. I am FAR more worried about our role when we MAKE master dancer/musician. What do you want? To spend the whole time complaining that it takes too long to advance, and have the devs fix that, only to find when the CU goes live our master dancers and musicians are worthless because we spent too much time trying to level ATK than testing our master level content? Personally I'd rather say grind be danged, what do we have to do once we get there? I mean, lets face it, no matter how easy or difficult the grind is, if there's nothing to be had at master, then what is the point?

For the sake of new players picking up entertainer skills, then yes I think we should first and foremost test entertainer skill progression in the CU. Call me cynical, but we'll end up useless anyway and there isn't really anything we can test in the CUas master musicians/dancers except flourish cost. Not unless the developers actually realize that these professions exist, and we all know that will never ever happen. SOE has (in my opinion) blatantly stated that all that matters is combat with this "update", so I don't expect them to ever recognize that the entertainer professions are broken as of May 5, 2005.

Sure, there won't be anything to be had at master, but if skill and xp progression for entertainers isn't fixed, we won't see any new masters at all anyway.

I already have a hard time not telling new people to keep going with entertainer. How the hell do you answer them when they say things like "so how do entertainers make money?" Because lets face it, they don't just want to sit in the cantina all day and be poor. If we have no master level content, then why should we make them waste even one week of playing time to grind a profession that they'll just end up dropping because it's pointless? If we have nothing at master, then by all means, lets have the grind be so hard that they quit before the newbs get to master, all dilusioned about how great it is, only to find a big nothing at the end of thier long trek.I can help newbs overcome any grind difficulty imposed. EH xp, I can generate that, I'll just blow myself and my alts up in my ship repeatedly, music/dance xp, I'll dance/play with them, or if the group is full, leave and watch/listen, heck I'd even hand out easy to use afk macro scripts if I had to. What I can't do is give them a reason to keep skills that add nothing to thier value in this world. Until I have a good answer for "so how do entertainers make money", well, anything else is pointless.

That's a good point. We should probably ask for a mechanic to make income off of the game in the CU.

I think just like the Inspiration buff...any new mechanics for entertainers will come AFTER the CU. Hopefully I'm wrong...but...my understanding is that the CU is for Combat Related skills...and until I get my Ninga Nalargon with a range of 20m I think we fall out of that scope

Actually, that'd be unlike the inspiration buff, as the inspiration buff is coming during the CU. However, I agree that any further enhancements to the professions will probably be after.
