Ok i have 2 accounts, and i started a musician on the other (char is also a master doctor).. So anyway i buff myself with quickness and i can play non stop..
BUT JESUS CHRUST XPING IS SOOOOO SLOW. It took me FOREVER just to get novice musican, and i finally broke down and AFK macro'd while sleeping (set the macro to buff myself when buff runs out). and lol, i wake up 6 hours later, char is still playing and i'm barely 20% more into my first musician skill lol..
Seriously, this is slower than ANY other skill lines i've tried in the game, and just the basic entertainer one took FOREVER too, but for some reason entertainment healing i FLEW through. Am i doing something wrong here?
How is musician XP calculated? Do people listening add xp? I'm using the best instrument and best song and i'm NOT playing in a cantina because it's way too laggy (i don't live in the usa and every MB i download from USA costs me so i try to play in places where i'm downloading 0.0-0.1)
Btw i'm just going to get techniques IV

It took me less then 8 hours after having enough xp to learn musician 4 to reach novice musician and those 8 hours include about 2-3 hours of image designing to go from level 0 to level 4 so I could get my master entertainer title.

How did I do that ?

Flourish, flourish, flourish, flourish, flourish, flourish. And I didn't even play my highest songs all the time or I could've done it even faster.

Bravo Torean!

If you don't want to play the music, don't be a musician. There is more to it than just running a macro of flourishes. Many of the masters who actually played all of their hours get annoyed when they encounter AFKers. They cheapenour profession in the eyes of all the other professions.

I will go out of my way to help someone who is working hardto level by playing live -- I will even fly to another planet to train them. I give them discounts on instruments. I will not do this for the AFKers.

Half the fun of musicianship is interacting with the audience and with the other entertainers. AFKing just denies you the opportunity to have this experience. Music is a social profession -- if you don't want to be social in game, train marksman and go kill stuff.

Masters like Torean and I get gigs where we get paid to perform (last week we did one that paid 10k each for a couple of hours). When we are asked who people can get to play, we do not recommend masters that we know did it through AFKing. Weeven have an entertainment agent on Intrepid who helps his clientsget gigs. He does not sign clients that he knows are notorious AFKerseither.

The other advantage to doing it the old fashioned way is that you get to know a lot of the other players in your town. They will great you on the street and help you out with stuff. AFKers are usually just laughed at or people use them to heal and don't tip them.

Think carefully before you chose the AFK route!

Please dont ever understand the afk'ers

You have entered a profession where leveling is fine but not a prerequistite.

Embrace the profession imerse yourself in what we do and simply enjoy the social aspect.

Here are some tips if you will.

Go to one of the big cantinas. Join a band and do your flourishing in pairs only.

Then just simply enjoy what you are. Watch the antics make friends heal folks catch a tip here and there and just enjoy yourself.

Please dont afk, alot of us are trying to break this belief that we all are afk'ers.

You dont need to learn to level ... you need to learn to relax and enjoy your profession. If you do not enjoy it now you won't when yer packin a Nalg.

Aside from my grumblin bout some of our issues when I log in thats all aside, I really love my profession. Ihave some great memories of levelin in 20 people bands and the laughs that I had I still have today.

When it gets to much for you go hunt or craft or something.

Yes we have issues ,yes SW1,Rock and SW2makes ya go kooo koo at times but it's not about that.

Being a Master is great but it's nothing special, it's love it or leave it

Better you know this now.

Yeah, I'm sorry you don't enjoy it. Please don't waste the extra money on a character you don't enjoy playing. Trust me if you don't like it now, you won't like it at master either. Don't muck it up for the rest of us who love it.

As far as im concerned AFK playing should be gotten rid of period. I wouldnt mind if they took out the ability to macro all together when the afk flag kicks in.

Being a Musician means loving music and socializing in the cantinas and personal cafe's. Your not going to make your fortune AFK cranking in some crowded cantina. You'll make your money greeting your guests, and talking about the Hunt and making business contacts at the bar.

Ive been a Master so long that ive watched this whole AFK thing happen from the start. Heck ive trained most of the Master Musicians we have on the server now at one time or another. If you dont love it from the begining and enjoy every little 15pt xp tick then i would recomend you just drop it and look elsewhere cause it doesnt get any faster or more entertaining than that first band you join hun.

xp isnt that slow at all. u just need to be in a good group. if u dont like playing to get the xp, why bother going up the musician ladder at all. its just more songs, instruments u get, but the gameplay is similar

It's not what you do, it's how you do it.

This is what the AFKers do not understand about Entertainment.

As long as you talk with other entertainers, play, sing, rap, mix up flourishes in new and fun ways, you are going to enjoy being a musician/dancer/image designer.

If you don't enjoy these things, you should find another class to play, as you will NEVER ENJOY BEING AN ENTERTAINER.

And if you don't enjoy something, why are you playing it?

Just a thought.

You want to lvl fast? Goto theed and join the 20 man groups. Do 2 flourishes every 3 ticks of xp.
You want to take 3 months like I did and learn the songs go solo.
Contrary to popular belief you dont have to interact with people to enjoy the class, you just have to have a love of music.
Interaction with people as a musician while performing in my opinion is immersion breaking. In my show I play 1 song for 3 min, and talk with the crowd inbetween songs.
Thats the great thing about this game, each player is able to play it as he see's fit.

the only reason i'm here is because the holo is making me. AFK is fine, i have no reason to enjoy playing sim's in the cantina.. AFK set the macro, lvl up.. nothing wrong with it.
