I'm sorry for busting in on your forums, but I have to rant at a large portion of you.

Where have all the non-AFK entertainers gone?

I went into Coronet to heal some mind and BF, intent on doing one of my classic huge tips to a non-AFKer. TWICE I offered a 100,000 credit tipto the first entertainer to send me a tell. All I heard were "Heals are appreciated" and "Buffs will begin shortly" macros.

I know I have no right to tell people how to play the game, but what fun do you get out of starting a macro and not even participating in conversations with customers? It just makes no sense to me.

If the non-AFKers are hiding somewhere, please tell me where. I'd rather give my business to someone who is actually (God forbid) WORKING for it.

I have no idea where the live entertainers on you server have gone... It could have something to do with you location,Coronet. Personally I did not perform for long in the public cantinas after I mastered, the AFKing drow me out. Now I only go there on request. And I have only been in coronet cantina once *shivers at the memory*.
My suggestion would be for you to look in Theed and Betine, witch seams to me more popular among live entertainers then Coronet.

What the original script said:

"He made a fair move. Screaming about it can't help you." ~3PO

"Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a buffbot." ~Han

"But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a live Entertainer." ~3PO

"That's 'cause alive Entertainerdon'tyell andcry 'nerf'when they lose.buffbots are known to do that." ~Han

"I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy." ~3PO

Okay, I don't know where that came from, but...just so you know, you're preaching to the choir here, Niles. The majority of Musicians on this forum love this profession enough that we actually play it. We are the ones who /greet, /smile, and /wave at the people who come through the cantina doors, only to be crushed when |_||}3|2|33+'$ run past us and go to the buffbots. ( |_||}3|2 |33+'$ means "uber leet's")

Until Live Entertainment is officiallyupheld by SOE, I'd suggest using your servers' Entertainer chats to find and interact with live Entertainers. I think every server has one of these channels now.

Live entertainers are out there, you just need a microscope to find them.
I dont buy the excuse that there are too many afk/buffbots for live entertainers to have fun.
There are many cantinas out there with no entertainers at all.
Get a band together and tour the galaxy hitting all the lesser frequented cantina's.
Spend 1 day at each cantina and dont worry about the amount of players coming to see you.
When your done with your tour start all over again hitting them in the same order.
Eventually word will get out that your playing at the cantina and more players will show up in time.
Back before the term solo group was invented and players really did have to group was when you should of started the touring.
Hopefully the upcoming changes to combat we will see the group play come back.

I'm on Sunrunner, and, if I'm playing, I'll probably be in Bestine Cantina and will be live. Of course, it's gotten old after grinding out the last bit of healing xp in Dantooine Mining Outpost. Send me a /tell, and I'd enjoy some company while healing you if I'm not busy.

Seems like Theed and Bestine are the places to be.

Keep your chin up, live entertainers. You keep my hope alive that there are actual PEOPLE playing this game. I promise that I will ALWAYS choose live players over AFKers, and there will always be a big tip in store for those who actually take pride in their work.

It's only fair, after all.

/cheer to the live entertainers!

Oh, it's not that I can't have fun. If I didn't have any fun, I wouldn't be playing still. I was just noting that it's really disheartening when you're offering your services live and someone runs right through you to use a bot. "Empty" cantinas can be the best. People are truly grateful to see you at those times and it's a nice icebreaker, talking about why you'd choose such a desolate place to Entertain.

Most recently I've been leaning toward Entertaining in hotels. Not many people come through, but I like the environment. Ido wish there were more reasons for people to use the hotels.

We're still on Sunrunner. You have to hunt for us, sometimes. The largest place for ATK entertainers tends to be in Theed. The times I've gone to Bestine it's been empty, of any entertainer, but I don't get to Tatooine that often.

Your story reminds me of the time my tailor friend went into the Coronet cantina and offered free clothes for all the entertainers, but she got no takers. Oh well.

I am on Lowca myself. And while it doesn't seem to have a huge entertainer base, you can usually always find a few people ATK playing. I play in Bestine most of the time, but of late I have been roaming around again. For example tonight I was in front of the coronet Starport, just playing the new song for folks to hear and to help a few people with some ID work (I do not advertise ID work, but if someone asks me I will always help them unless I am standing in the starport with a ticket in hand).

I do not, nor do I condone AFK play, however I am still friends with several people who play ATK and then let their characters stay online while they go to bed. With the amount of AFKing now, if I refused to associate with everyone that played their entertainer AFK, I would be one very, very lonely person.

Steps have been taken to combat AFK play, and we should see some progress in the not to distant future now that HTL is out and the bugs seem to be very minor (Well except for a small percentage of players that are having trouble even logging in now ) I think the combat sandbox will be the first place that some radical new things will be tested, since it will be in an isolated environment. And I really believe that the first attempts to eliminate AFK play will spawn from it.

I am sorry that you feel badly, but at the same time I am also happy. I am happy that there are still people like you that value the skills and effort that all ATK entertainers put forth.

I wish you luck in your quest for live entertainment, and if I may make a small suggestion, ask around and see if your server has any guilds that are dedicated to entertaining. I can not speak for your server, but there are a good many that have entertainers at all hours in their cities.

The Bestine cantina on Corbantis has gotten empty as well, although it used to be a very busy place. Ironically this is the best situation for us because its a busy city overall. The last two times I went to Bestine (last week) I wasn't even going there to play. I had my tag up and was begged to play for a while to cure some BF. Before I finally left I had 15 people in the cantina getting healed and interacting with me. The busy cities with little entertainer presence are a great place to feel appreciated and remind you that we are needed.

I tend to play in Mos Eisley, although I think on Intrepid you can also find lives in Bestine and Theed. I'm sure there are other places where there are live Ents, but the Coronet Cantinais a Hell hole. Last time I was there it seemed there were 20 or so AFKers in the foyer and entrance hall while the back room was empty.

On my server at least, Cnet Cantina isone of thosewretched hives of spam and bottery.Theed is the place to be for live ents it seems. I'd say we get about 50/50 live to afk entertainment in there during peak hours, sometimes a little higher.

I can't stand Coronet anymore. It's a lost city for entertainers.

Whenever I play in public I go to Theed, but I usually play for my guild in my cantina.

I'm lucky to be part of a guild who actually respects Live entertainers and the music I play for them.

Getting back on track...

Don't expect many Live entertainers in Coronet (or Theed if that's how your server goes) until the recursive macros are pulled. Or, if you want to see them, encourage other people to actually pay attention to us. Believe it or not, one "interactive" customer an hour usually keeps us satisfied.
