Thread: I want Merchant, I REALLY do...

ok, so the Holo told me to Master merchant first. Wasn't my intent prior to that, but I looked at what I wanted to do and Merchant can/should be part of my ultimate goal.

The problem is I need to finish business, to get to merchant, I had been dableing in Artisan since day one, and I'm 75% of the way done with Business 3. I don't know how to get Business 3 XP, I just did what I did and the xp built up. I've been folloing other trees, and dropping Artisan skills. (Luckily, the only one I hadn't started dropping was Business, because I didn't know what it did.) I am told that business xp comes from general crafting, but I sat down to grind some objects for a while (foods, traps, etc.) but no XP (i.e. ZERO) after and hour. The complexity of the objects ranges from 2-12 I think.

My question for the board is, What do I need to do to get back on track? Do I need to bump up all my other artisan skills again?

Thanks for the suggestions...

All you need is general crafting experience to get to climb any artisan tree other than surveying.

Simply make stuff.

Just read a bit deeper..

But if you are making things such as survey tools or personal harvesters. And you are not gaining experience. Something is definitely wrong.

First of all -Don't use a macro, make sure you are actually completing every step you need to do. If you end the crafting process before it ends itself, your materials will be consumed, and you will not get experience.

If you are still not getting exp for making items, submit a ticket and pray to Obi Wan that someone answers you.

That's what I've been told, but so far nothing. So I assumed I'm making the wrong things. What I can make is pretty low level, so I'm wondering if that is the problem, that I can't get any more experience making the things I'm making...

Again, thanks for any advice...

Thanks Strife-

I'll try the survey tools again. I think I need higher eng level to make harvestors. At least I was never able to make them before.

I'd like to get up to chef at some point so I was focusing on the foods. I don't use macros unless I have to, I figure otherwise why play at all.

Thanks Again!

I got all three lines in artisan by crafting chemical survey tools on practice... they are simple and only consume one easy-to-come-by material

Well Ahnuld. When you start to grind your way from domestic IV to chief you are going to wish you could make thoughts harvesters. They are the fastest way to grind general crafting xp, and you could properly use the water and organics they can bring in. Not to mention that you need both the engineering and domestic line to get the maximum number of points for experimentation on the items in the artisan profession (such as a food and chemical crafting tool).
