Thread: Vendor cap negatively impacts player city economies
Am I the only one that sees the negative impact of moving sales from private vendors to the bazaar as it relates to player city economies? Or moving vendor sales to private trade transactions? Simply put, player cities need the tax revenue from the vendors in their cities. Take away the vendors, or limit their usefulness, and a player city's economy could go caput in no time.
This is also true of the concern of placed vendors by now non-merchants. Take away these vendors, and again, player city economies could go caput.
FYI, I am totally in the camp that merchants are given "placement" skills...not "usage" skills, and I'm a master merchant.
And think about this for a second:
If a craftsperson needed to use a merchant to sell an item, and a Master Merchant only had 900 items of total possible vendor space to sell that item you'd need a master merchant for every 1 or 2 master craftsperson. The number of full-time dabbling merchants would thus sky rocket, just to have and maintain the vendors. Now, that means fewer skill points left over for "constructive" craftsmanship and the furthering of our galactic economies. That means even fewer weaponsmiths, fewer armorers, fewer tailors, fewer chefs (are there any?), fewer architcts, fewer vehicle vendors, simply fewer everything. Think about the negative impact of that for a second. My server (Shadowfire) already suffers immensely from too few craftspeople. I can't believe we are a minority. Holo grinders are leaving the few working craftspeople struggling to keep up. I don't want to see any changes made, whatsoever, that would reduce this number by even 1.
I don't know. Maybe I'm the only person thinking about things wholistically, and not just from a pure merchant perspective, but really folks, I can't think of any good coming from any of the major changes being suggested here.
Thoughts two groups will likely make up 3/2 of the players...
SOE will first react when the commandos and bounty hunters complain that they cannot find a decent weapon anywhere, or that know one is making good armour any more.
