Thread: Why not solve the vendor problem with a quantity field

Okay, I'm not a merchant and have no desire to be but I have several friends who are and are contemplating leaving the game over this. Maybe there is some technical reason why this proposed solution won't wonk on the dev's end and maybe I am naive about how most merchants use vendors but...

Why not just have a quantity field on the vendor. I don't think I've ever personally used a vendor (other than the bazaar with more than 50 unique items on it. So, for example, if you are selling FWG5s from a factory run, just have one line for that factory run and state that there are x available. Then, when someone chooses to purchase that item, give them a choice on how many they want. That seems to me to solve the vendor memory issue and removes on of my pet peeves in that when I want multiple instances of a specific thing I have to repeat the purchase process over and over.

At any rate, I hope you guys (and ladies) who are expert in the merchant field will indicate that this would be an acceptable solution, and I hope that the devs will read and agree as well because I don't want all my friends to quit the game.

Thank you for your time.

This is a nice idea, and has been brought up multiple times, but will still wind up screwing the Tailor profession. I know very few tailors who produce factory runs of anything more than components. Because of our large number of schematics (over 200) and colors, any decently stocked tailor shop will have at least 500 unique items, and many stores carry over a thousand.
