I was a master politician ... but because (simulare to merchant skills) once you've put everything up you don't need your skills anymore, I dropped a few of them. I need skills with which I can inform my citizens, build up city content (Quests etc.) etc.
That's why I also have merchant 2-4-4-4 ...
- I can let vendors say something to inform citizens and visitors - get them to look into the vendors and read infos from named items with descriptions (a city FAQ - Waypoints to Shops - people to contact)
- I can put up tents - as my char also holds the cantina and the theater (yes - he is master musician and love to play the nalargon) the remaining 2 lots can only be split into two seperate buildings with tents (on Tatooine no small house like on naboo
) - also used 2 tent for the 2 "bases" of a tusken raid on the merchants of city
- I can costumize them with the city militia uniform
- I can put up 6 vendors in town to build city quests (have to keep the skills anyway, since different events require moving the vendors from time to time - no exploiting possible) ...
Why am I posting this in the merchant board? I read a few suggestions to futur revamps of merchant - mostly, envolving among other things, a decent rais of vendor maintenance. Now my method of using vendors may be very rare, but I'd really appreciate if this use would be though of concerning revamp discussions, since it is the only real, but most powerfull tool to create player driven 24/7 content. Cities are already hit pretty hard with the weekly maintenance (depending on the city - especialy sind sales tax is completly broken) ...
Maybe in your revamp discussions you could include a way of granting politicians a way of using vendors for information and quests. Maybe let politicians use vendors for far less maintenance that sell far less or nothing (although I also like to use vendors for getting a "starting fee" from players taking part in an event, to even out the costs of the prize (e.g. a treasure hunt, a race ...)
