Wouldn't that discourage people from having vendors and crowd the bazaar? You can only hit next page so many times before your finger gets tired.

As long as they kept a limit on how many items (2x normal) a merchant could put on that would be great. No extra lag. True auctions could finally be done.

I wouldn't mind seeing AUCTIONS by merchants given a very high limit. Public auctions of merchndise would be a nice addition for merchants. For every day items I am less sure. I certainly don't want everyone shopping at the bazaar instead of visiting my tents. I want them impulse buying from the 6 vendors they didn't know about when they came in to visit the one they do know about.

There is a 25 limit, so it wouldn't be that bad I think. But I see your point Doc. Even just for auctions, it would be great.

not a bad idea....im for anything that'll reduce the numbers of those low-life afk spammers who dont know how to use the trade forums

I think that removing the caps for merchants on auctions would be a good idea, maybe not on instant sales, though.

I like this with caveats.. no increase in limit of items... only merchants can do this at whatever 'level' is determined. special 'auction' terminals for the whole galaxy. credits held in escrow by leading bid.. no withdrawal of bids except for say, 5 minutes after placing initial bid. move the game trading we do on the trade boards back into the game.
I would worry about it becoming a dumping ground for 'junk', so maybe set some minimums on the auctions? 50k or so? I love this feature for the nicer high end items, but also worry about it taking away from a store based feel. Going shipwright I can place ships on there for a few hundred K each or whatever the sales price is.. why would they ever come to a store then?
I would hate to see tons of 7k -10k items on there... as it would just become 'ugly' but would like to see a feature for the really expensive items.. but not at the damage to shops it could do who specialize in those items.
I personally charge a premium for my power, but people always know they can get it at my shops... with the higher limits.. that would let my competition sell much more easily and much more than I do because they can just check the bazaar and find what they need rather than coming to my store versus checking several other cheaper but empty vendors.
Just seems it would penalize those shopkeepers who have developed good businesses for well stocked high end items...
I'm 'waffled' on the issue (another great use for eggs)

I like the idea

Unless it was tiered, this could become another method for crafters to bypass vendors and using merchants.
Simply spend 6 skill points (Novice Merchant) and gain the ability to list 25 items on the bazaar at any price you wanted.
The idea has merit, but experience has show that anything that can be abused WILL be abused. If adopted, perhaps only Master Merchants would have unlimited price on bazaar. Others would have limits (higher than 6K) that were graduated based upon one of the skill lines (perhaps Advertising?)
------------------------
Another suggestion- Give merchants increased limits of how many items they may sell on the bazaar. Then build a consignment system into bazaar listings (this could use same code for vendors if consignment ever implemented).
Then the merchants could place item for sale on bazaar "on behalf" of someone else, getting a percentage of the final sales price. (I acknowledge, the implementation of doing this would be very difficult and would probably never occur, but I just thought of it and decided to throw it out.)

If it were limited to auctions then we could be a little more leinient on who had the skills (lower in merchant) because auctions are must less of an issue (IMO) than 25 unlimited priced instant sale items from every merchant.

I was thinking about it. Why couldn't merchants be able to sell items with no price limit on bazaar (or a higher limit, like 1 million)? It's not much, but it would certainly give another advantage to merchants compared to non merchants.
