My post taken from the in testing board. I am not a merchant nor i plan to be one, but
i like to find a solution to current issues with your profession that do not end up in a nerf
for the rest of us (if you have a look at the TC your profession is nerfed also ....).

I'd like to hear the merchants opinion on my proposal. And if you like this it's up to
your correspondent to promote this proposal.

Artisan Business 3 Get (1) Vendor, that will hold (50) items, for a total of (50) items for all vendors

Merchant Novice Get (2) Vendors, that will hold (60) items, for a total of (120) items for all vendors

..........

I just heard about this and am extremely unhappy. So much that it may be time to cancel my 3 accounts. I am a resource dealer with over 1700 items. I have no where to put these items. The only reason I play this game is because ofmy online business which gives me alot of enjoyment supplying crafters and customers!

This incredibly stupid change is another reason SWG is losing players!!

Everyone is complaining about empty vendors and what to do about it.

They keep up space from the database and then when they do something about it all are going to nagg about it ?

Strange that when they finaly make a good change and they are gonna cry about it ....

I just think you weren't happy with the game and this is just the thing you were waiting for.

Nope thats not what you have been waiting for !!! Do do not wait for the collapse of the economy, do you ? And you dont want to see the most active merchants nerfed, do you ? But thats whats gonna happen with this coming live !!!!

DEVS DO NOT DARE TO LET THIS COME LIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We don't want to have everybody and his mom having a vendor although they are neither artisan nor merchant, right ?

We are pissed about travelling to the end of the planet just for looking into empty inventories, right ?

BUT THE CURRENT IMPLEMENTATION OF VENDOR LIMITATION IS VERY HARMFUL TO THE ECONOMY.

Every player needs a platform for trading offline with others ! If you dont retain this featurethe economy will take damage
i promise you.

Here is a potential solution:

1. Make limit number of vendors based you current +vendor-stats

As far as i understand this has been already implemeted and i appreciate this.
BUT: Do not change the number of items, a vendor can store. This will punish
the most active merchants for doing a good job ! This is rediculous !

2. In order to give a motivation for having a frequently refilled vendor.

2a. Remove a vendor if it is empty for more than 3 days. This will ensure people care about their
vendors. Make sure that the char's vendor status is refreshed, so that one can place a new vendor.

2b. In order to not have vendors with the one 999999999 credit item, let the vendor's maintance rate
triple for not selling things for more than a week. This way, people still can decide they want to have
a vendor for decoration or item storage (which are vaild purposes to my eyes), but they have to pay
for this and they have to interact with the NPC. 81 times the maintance rate for nottaking careof a vendor
for a month is quite a money sink, isn't it ?

3. Give ervery player a NPC safe deposit mailbox !
so what isthis mailbox ?
Can be crafted be crafted and placed by master merchants. Master merchant is admin. He has the following options:

  • adding people to the userlist (no delete option because of potential griefing)

  • setting a slider with maintance fee for being on the userlist
slider goes from 500 to 10.000 credits per day (sliders because of potential griefing)

  • setting a slider with transaction fee for every transaction being done with the mailbox
0.1 % to 10 % of transaction value (sliders because of potential griefing)

  • setting a slider for usage fee for every item stored in the mailbox
slider goes from 50 to 5.000 credit per day (containerstored items should be also summed up for this)

The user on the userlist has the following options

  • deposit
deposition of things in up to 5 different segments of safe deposit box. So five different remote transactions
can be organized at once. For deposition one is asked a transaction price to be paid and one is provided
    a release code via IG-mail.

  • accessto segments of the deposit box
getting items back by retrieving them with the release code and the transaction price (Items can be stored by user for 0 credits, except the Admin fees)

  • add credits to maintance account
the service is payed from a maintance account. Once the maintance account runs in to debt, the user is
    removed from the list

  • sweep all deposit segments
brute force clearing of all segments of the deposit box in case access codes get lost. This option deletes all items in the user's boxes

Everybody has the following options:

  • retrievingitems with the access code and transaction price

  • depositing items for users on the userlist.

Voila ! Merchants play vital part ineconomics, but everybody retains ability to participate in the persitent remote economy.
You could apply the "triple rate per week" rule like for vendors to ensure this system is not missused as perma-storage for
players refraining from IG presence.

I know its gonna be quite a project coding all this, but it is really worth doing it right and i think we would be all willing to wait for this.
I acknowledge you current approach as a sign that you at least TRY to care about the merchant profession, but the current implentation does more harm then benefit to them and even more harm to the rest of the community (sorry for using this term but i'd say thats prototype definition of a NERF and you should try to avoid NERFS when ever possible. ADD ! DONT NERF)
