Let me just say something. I honestly believe that people will leave the game over a change like this. The crafting and merchant system is the ONE thing your game has to seperate it from everything on the market from a playing standpoint (besides the Star Wars License).

Your crafters are probably your most loyal and dedicated fan base. Most of them buy multiple accounts and spend countless hours online. They end up even devouring people who left the game and offering to pay their accounts as well to use lot space and venders.

You are going into the fall unleashing a new expansion that is going to be way UNDER beta tested if the date holds up. It's going to have many problems, which to many, is the one final thing they are waiting out in this game to see if they stay or go. Givingthe most loyalplayers you have a bad taste in their mouth before a make or break expansion is risky business.

You have your biggest competition coming out in less than 3 months in Worlds of Warcraft. A game that has been beta testing for months and will more than likely be a lot more bug free, and if you don't think that's going to be the basis for most of the early comparisions, then you don't read your own boards very well.

WHY ON EARTH would you do something like this at this time?

This is not what the player base asked for. We asked for you to delete abandoned venders.

'WHAT! Fine, we'll get rid of their venders, but nerf them so bad they'll never ask for anything again!'

'Can merchants kill jedi Fred?'

'I think if a jedi stares at a vender too long and a bounty hunter comes, yes, he can die... We better nerf item count while were at it.'
