Vendors in private buildings. Why not? I want to put one in a private PA hall. Why can't I? What's the rational?

Will this change?

Sorry if this is a repeat post. Search not so good.

Thanks for responses

Vendors are for shops, and shops are open to the public. That is there thinking.

What you do, is set up a small house, put a vendor in it. Make it public, and set a access fee of 10,000,000. Then add all the PA members to the entry list (no fee)

Newb merchant here, with only Artisan Business III. I've seen vendors placed in private buildings, but how/what level?

Thanks for any input.

For anyone interested, I found this site for hex codes: http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html

The building must be "public" to place a vendor in it but a merchant can put an entry fee on it (up to 50k) to keep out most people.

Does anyone know the reason why vendors can't be put in private structures? Guilds and various businesses have some very legitimate reasons for having vendors in private structures. I have always wondered why this particular restriction exists.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think it was to prevent people from using them as storage vendors.

Now that skills are required to operate a vendor, this is largely a moot point.

Personally, I'd rather see them implement directed sales (person, faction, guild, etc.) than worry about changing the private buildings thing.

If that ever was the point, it was always moot. It doesn't take long to figure out that you can just put items on the vendor at price 99999999.

The thing is that changing the private buildings thing would probably only require one developer during half of his lunch break to change. It would go a long way to implement directed sales with almost no effort.

Because the devs haven't a clue how this game is played from a crafter/merchant POV.
